Anyone have any idea how they assign the bonuses? I'm signing up my wife, so she will be brand new. Wonder what they'll offer her?

I think I know what is going on re: the discussion CPRich and BigLar are having. I got the 20 nites, 30K points offer. It is pretty clear to me that it is all or nothing. BUT the FAQ is wrong, it says points will post with the base points for each stay. Looks to me like a hasty cut and paste job and maybe that's why they pulled the webpages while they repair the T&Cs (or FAQ's if you will).

So much for my theory

Well, now Megabonus is back on the website and the FAQ for my offer still reads:

When will the Marriott Rewards bonus points appear in my account?

The Marriott Rewards bonus points will be posted to your account along with the base points earned for that stay.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is there a limit to the number of points I may earn?

Yes, stay 20 nights and earn a total of 30,000 points.

So I guess I'll find out after my stay at the Ren Boca Raton in 3/1 out 3/4.

I searched again, and can't for the life of me find the word 'each'.

As I posted before, it's fairly clear (at least to me - I'll be glad to admit I'm wrong if 1500 points start showing up after every stay)

How many points do I get? - You get 30,000 points after you stay 20 nights.
When will those points post? - along with your points for that stay.

i.e. 2-3 days after your 20th stay, your points for that stay, and your 30,000 bonus points will both post at the same time. Unlike other programs that do a sweep once a week or once a month or randomly.

Just to confuse things even more, Marriott just told me my mega bonus would post 2-3 weeks after the end of the promotion (ie June 1st). So now we have BigLar saying it'll post per stay, CPRich saying it'll post after the last stay, and pitflyer saying it'll post after the promotion is over. I want to get in on beating this dead horse too!

PS - If you are unhappy with the promotion you are targetted for, Marriott has traditionally been flexible to their loyal members.

OK, now I think this qualifies as "rather funny" If we get one more official but differing answer it will move to "flat-out hilarious" :D

This is why lawyers get rich. :)

Let's all wait until the thing starts, shall we?

Meanwhile, about my Buick test drive ...

As a Gold I got: 15 nights = 20,000 bonus. It will be interesting to see if this is all or nothing. I will have to do some mattress runs to stay all 15 nights. Not usually cheap in SAT. I would be lucky to catch some $59 Fairfield Inns.

PGHflyer Feb 20, 2005 7:46 pm

Well, I figured I would try.....and wrote requesting nights instead of stays for the bonus qualification. Nada. And I will plan my bookings accordingly. Here's what I got:

"Thank you for contacting Marriott Rewards.

Our corporate office offered different promotions to different members based on their past stay history. I am unable to change the promotion you were offered.

Would you like me to enroll your account for the MegaBonus promotion?

We are always happy to assist you with your Marriott Rewards account."

20 nites = 30K points for new gold

I think I got the lowest offer last year but ended up making gold for the first time (50 nites on the nose). This year, I got the biggest offer 30k points for 20 nites. I think I will make it by the end of April. ^

MGS5E - Make 2 stays, get 5000 points
MGS5F - Earn 5000 points every 3rd stay, up to 25000 pts
MGS5K - Earn 5000 points every 5 nights, up to 25000 pts
MGS5P - Make 3 stays, get 10000 points total
MGS5Q - Stay 15 nights, get 20000 points total
MGS5R - Stay 20 nights, get 30000 points total

How can I sign up for the other promotions? I called teh phone number for the 20K bonus but I don't think I'll be able to stay 15 nights... but 3 stays of 1-2 days each is much more possible for me.

Should I attempt a call to MR for a different offer?

Hi jkzahn - what level of status do you have with MR? I am Platinum, and was going to attempt a call to Marriott Rewards to get the 30k points for 20 nights. I got the 10k in 5 stays offer, whereas my colleagues (who had the same stay pattern as me) got the 30k for 20 nights promo. I don't quite understand how they target certain promos to certain folks. I've heard in the past that Marriott is pretty accomodating for Plats, but wanted to know if I should make the attempt to call and ask for the better offer.

Same thing happened to me. I wrote an e-mail and was told it would not be a problem. I am also a platinum.

Just a guess, but I recently redeemed an award, and currently have a low balance of MR points. Maybe that had something to do with it.

I'm soon to be platinum (on platinum challenge) - if it's possible to change the offer, does anyone know when I'd need to call? I'm wondering only because i got the 15 nights / 20K bonus, but might be able to squeeze out 20 nights. At the moment, though, I'm not entirely sure and I'd obviously prefer to wait until my travel plans are a bit more set before calling. Just wondering if Marriott will be open to changes after the promotion period has begun (i.e., post March 1).

BigLar Feb 22, 2005 8:53 am

They've been very accomodating to plats in the past. It costs almost nothing to call SLC and ask. Information you get here on Flyertalk might not be the absolute last word ... just ask me and CPRich! :)
