Marriott Laundry
Dear Marriott,
If I turn my shirt into the laundry with my collar and cuffs buttoned, please return them that way. If I turn the shirt into the laundry and the collar is bottoned it's probably a good clue that I don't wear a tie with it
One of those irritating little things that nearly every hotel gets wrong. I hate fiddling with buttons on my collars needlessly.

newly instituted laundry list only for R.........
do you want your shirts folded or on hangers?
do you want no/light/medium/heavy starch?
do you want your collar and cuffs buttoned/unbuttoned?
and DO NOT outsource this function

In some hotels I've even seen them not offer laundry service on a weekend day as part of being "green". Seems crazy for a full service hotel to do that.

I though pretty much ALL Marriott hotels outsourced their laundry. ...And pretty much all laundries (non-"Marriott") that I have ever used return button-down collared shirts with the collars unbuttoned as a standard practice.
This is not a Marriott-specific issue.

And I'm staying at a non-Marriott property who returns shirts with collars buttoned. So again, it's hotel specific.
I'm simply asking Marriott to standardize the practice and not unbutton shirt collars.

Not petty at all when your shirt ends up without a collar button from needless fondling of it by laundry staff.
Actually this is a serious request. If you think it's trivial then why the need to reply? Different issues for different people. When you live in a Marriott hotel these are the things you notice.

what's trivial (and frankly, IMO pathetic) was the start of this thread.............NOT the replies it drew.........

For every person who wants them back buttoned, another would want them back UNbuttoned so they would be sure the shirt was actually unbuttoned prior to wash.

When every workday morning I have to waste time buttoning my shirt cuffs and collars it gets old. I actually find it very irritating.
If you have nothing to add to the thread other than veiled denigrating of other members then perhaps you would be better to not hit submit.

This is one of those things that most people don't think about but when every work day they do it a way that irritates you it gets really old.

Sorry, dude, but this is a pretty tiny little complaint.
If you happen to be bitten by a mosquito on Marriott property, though, be sure to let us know.

Explain why they button up the back pockets of the pants?
You don't need to unbutton a collar to wash them. How many people unbutton collars at home? Betting 99.9% do not. Your skin doesn't even touch it...
And I see you added the unecessary comment about the mosquito. In fact, I am PAYING Marriott for laundry service and not getting what I want. I also believe most men would prefer not to have to keep buttoning collars and cuffs each day.
This is the service industry. It's the small details that make a difference.

to borrow a term of art from Apocalypse Now - "the horror"............
I think you've taken many minutes if not hours to first post and then monitor replies and respond to those who, like myself, think your post is pathetic verses the seconds, or mili-seconds of button/unbuttoning a button......GET A LIFE !!!!!!!!!!!!
and to your closing comment, I reserve the right to reply to whoever and whenever I damn well please............
