to borrow a term of art from Apocalypse Now - "the horror"............
I think you've taken many minutes if not hours to first post and then monitor replies and respond to those who, like myself, think your post is pathetic verses the seconds, or mili-seconds of button/unbuttoning a button......GET A LIFE !!!!!!!!!!!!
and to your closing comment, I reserve the right to reply to whoever and whenever I damn well please............

Get a life? I have one. I'm on here to discuss issues related to my travels. And I can tell you are not technical to understand what a millisecond is.
I have several shirts where the button holes are very small and it's a pain to rebutton then and hence why I posted.
You do realize laundry is a paid service in addition to hotel fees. Hotels are a service industry. Little reminder *cough*
PS: I am holding my breath waiting for you to reply. I'll even give you the last word (which you seem to always take given history of your FT posts).
Carry on.

Sorry dude, it's the reality of hotel living and they need to consider things like this. Details matter.
Explain why they button up the back pockets of the pants?
You don't need to unbutton a collar to wash them. How many people unbutton collars at home? Betting 99.9% do not. Your skin doesn't even touch it...
And I see you added the unecessary comment about the mosquito. In fact, I am PAYING Marriott for laundry service and not getting what I want. I also believe most men would prefer not to have to keep buttoning collars and cuffs each day.
This is the service industry. It's the small details that make a difference.

Dude, chill, all is copacetic.
From your comments, it is clear you have never done laundry yourself. Kudos.
I believe most real men would take the buttoning of three buttons in stride, keep calm, and carry on.
I sincerely hope that this is the worst problem with which you have to deal for the foreseeable future.
Cheers!

I'm actually hoping Marriott reads this, not you.

You are incorrect as Marriot does have inhouse laundry. You have to know each property.
And I'm staying at a non-Marriott property who returns shirts with collars buttoned. So again, it's hotel specific.
I'm simply asking Marriott to standardize the practice and not unbutton shirt collars.

the majority of hotels have it outsourced but the larger hotels (and I'm talking the really large ones) they do have it inhouse - it just doesn't make sense for smaller hotels to invest in getting into the laundry business...they won't execute it well and they won't receive the needed ROI so you'd have upset owners and upset guests....if you had an issue with laundry I would encourage you to provide feedback to the hotel directly
Just need to get a couple thousand more Marriotts to change their ways.In all seriousness, this really freaking irritates me.

If we're going to discuss petty matters, at least do it politely. This thread has very little value and is in danger of being deleted.

Taking OP at his word that he's serious, the simple answer here is to note any special instructions on the laundry ticket. Guests have all kinds of oddball requests. They ought to be honored when the can be. And they can be here.
Whether the function is in-house / outsourced, it's the same fundamental process. I expect my shirts to be returned unbottoned. But, that's me. And, I could care less if they are returned buttoned. But, that's me.
Communicating with the property is the best way to avoid microscopic concerns (see entire thread about room cleaner who tossed some dry cleaning plastic wrap).

It is clear you have never laundered, starched and ironed a dress shirt. You have to unbutton it to properly starch and iron it.

Starch never touches my clothes. Ever. I'll let you figure out why I am so adamant about no starch since you seem to know so much about me.
Definitely clear some of you are more argumentative than constructive. If it doesn't bug you that they unbutton everything on your shirts then good for you. I find it a pain.
It's pretty simple. You don't need to unbutton a shirt collar to wash it or iron it.

Interesting you say that. Most housekeeping won't touch anything not directly in or very near a waste basket. Prevents the truly trash vs not from being an issue.

I once found the new shampoo and conditioner bottles that housekeeping left in the bathroom at a 48 degree angle and not the standard 90 degree angle that is the norm. I didn't sleep a wink that night
