This is true for making a hotel redemption. However, my understanding is that ordering TP doesn't qualify. Can anyone confirm?

I transferred 330K Marriott from my account to my SPG account giving me 110k SPG.

I then transferred my 110K SPG to my wife's SPG account giving her 110K SPG.

Then we transferred 110K from my wife's SPG to her Marriott account giving her 330K MR and enough for a Cat 7 TP

Regarding the 7 night hotel portion of the TP, I know you don't get any nights back if you only use a portion of it—4 nights instead of 7, for example. But what if you have to cancel the entire reservation you booked? In that case, do you get another shot at using it, or is it lost?

Yes, you can cancel a reservation an the certificate goes back into your account. But I am not sure if you cancel after the allowable cancellation date has passed - I think you get the certificate back and you have to pay the cash penalty, but I am not certain about that.

I booked a 5 night package a week ago ( not sure how possible it is anymore) but I'm hearing some disturbing reports from friends. They said a csr told them non vacation club people who booked 5 nights will not be able to redeem their 5 night cert because it's flagged. I know CSRs are often wrong but has anyone else heard this?

Wow. That's bad. I tried booking a 5 night but couldn't. Tried HUCA 2x but no luck.

I highly doubt this is true. Reps say that the system is flagged to indicate a MVC owner and that it won't even allow them to convert a non MVC owner to a 5 night package. We know that is simply true since it still happens. Book online and check, you will see you will have no problems booking and using that five night certificate. You can always go back and cancel.

Good. The 5 night requires membership in the MVCI program. If one didn't invest, then they are not entitled to this benefit. I don't know why people think they should be.

I am glad they have locked this down. It should have been from the beginning.

I didn't say I should be "entitled" to the benefit. I simply said that I asked and they said no. My feeling is that most folks on this thread asked for the shorter package because there was a history of MR granting the package to non owners. And if a non owner didn't get it, they walked away. They're not claiming "entitlement".

No one's entitled to anything, but we're certainly not going to leave deals on the table haha, I mean maybe remember what website you're using..

Appreciate the dose of rationality, you're probably right.

Split a 7 night certificate into two rooms?

I am planning on transferring from SPG to Marriot to get a hotel stay and points toward a SW Companion Pass. I would prefer a 5 night hotel stay but if I have trouble with that then I will book a 7 night stay. I am wondering if one can use the 7 nights for two rooms in the same hotel during the same time period. I have a large family and would love to book 4 nights for one room and 3 nights for the second at the same property on the same nights (I would pay cash for the 4th night in room 2).

Possible?

No, generally speaking.

Someone upthread asked about this and I paid attention b/c I'd love to do the same. But the consensus seemed to be that this is not possible.

Thanks for the info. Worth an ask!

Where are you going to use your Travel Package?

Assuming a lot of people took advantage of the TP and SW deal and are looking for ideas on where to use the TP.

For me the SW portion was more valuable than the hotel cert, but I still wanted to use it and struggled with category 1-5 offerings.

I wanted: Family friendly location with lots to do in immediate area. July or August, 1BR and kitchen. Since the summer - that ruled out any locations incredibly hot/humid.

Ended up with category 8 RI Portland ME in August.

Where are you going to use your TP??

SkiAdcock Jan 16, 2017 8:40 am

I normally use my TP in the bathroom :p :D You might ask the mod to change the title to Travel Package so it will come up easier on search.

Cheers.
