Extra 10k miles on top of 10% RewardsPlus bonus when redeeming for United miles

Just received an email today. Really pleased, as I am about to cash in 300k MR points for a travel package that will now give me 142k (instead of 132k) United miles and 7 nights of hotel.

The non-TP best rate for United miles is 112k MR points for 50k United miles, or 2.24 MR points per mile. On this offer when transferring 120 MR points for 142k miles + 180k MR points for the 7 night certificate I'm spending 2.11 MR points per United mile, with the seven nights of cat 6 hotel gratis. Had I opted for a lower category of hotel, I could have had a rate of 1.9 MR points per United mile with a 7 nigh cat 1-5 certificate.

Terms of the offer are below.

Terms and conditions

1) Registration not required.
2) Marriott RewardsŪ Hotel + Air Package must be booked through https://www.marriott.com/rewards/usepoints/morepack.mi. Marriott Rewards terms and conditions apply.
3) Promotional MileagePlus Bonus Award Miles – Bonus award miles will be awarded once the miles from a Hotel + Air Package (“Package Miles”) are posted to a members account as follows:
a. 5,000 bonus award miles will be awarded to member’s account after Package Miles from a 55,000 mile Hotel + Air Package or 77,000 mile Hotel + Air Package are posted to a member’s account.
b. 10,000 bonus miles will be awarded to member’s accounts after Package Miles from either a 110,000 mile Hotel + Air Package or a 132,000 mile Hotel + Air Package are posted to a member’s account.
c. Please allow up to five business days after Package Miles have posted to member’s account for bonus award miles to post.
d. Package Miles include RewardsPlus 10% bonus miles benefit.
4) To be eligible for promotional bonus miles, Hotel + Air Packages must be ordered within the promotional period of April 15, 2015 through June 30, 2015 – determination of bonus miles will be based on transaction date of when Hotel + Air Package was ordered – Hotel + Air Packages ordered outside the promotional window will not be eligible for promotional bonus miles.
5) Offer is subject to change without notice. Other restrictions may apply.

April 17, waiting for news on the Southwest devalue.

In response to all, thanks. Also, no international travel for me.

Marriott Reward pachages. Is Southwest the better choice?

If domestic travel is what you are looking for and you prefer American over Southwest, then you should consider the British Airways avios for the package since it can be as low as 9K points round trip for shorter domestic trips on AA.

Looks like many redemption's have increased to 74, 76, 78 points per dollar (from 70) which is not horrible (for now) but there is now no predictable upper limit.

The true test is when the schedule is extended in May to cover the 2015 Holiday season and the point ratios needed then.

It does not seem targeted but I did not get an e-mail about this, nor I see it on https://www.marriott.com/rewards/usepoints/morepack.mi Does anyone know what the deal, no pun intended, is?

Thanks.

I'm sure you know this, but just in case, if you don't know you're going to need a cat 6 property yet, always go for the cat 1-5 hotel. You can always "upgrade" the hotel portion of a travel package after the fact by the exact difference in travel package points. I've been sitting on a cat 1-5 hotel certificate for a 5 months, since the last 25K bonus UA transfer. Anyway, once I know where I will eventually use it, and most likely this year, it will change it then.

I got a travel package (needed miles for QR J trip from CLT to ZAG for 3) few weeks ago. Now I need to find me a Marriott that is good for 5 year old and somewhere where there is good shore scuba diving. #firstworldproblems

This doesn't see to work for travel packages from Marriott.

elva May 3, 2015 11:41 am

Why do you think so? You tried and didn't get the bonus?

Because the site says to use a code--one for each level of transfer. There is no code for the TP

elva May 3, 2015 1:22 pm

You are confused, these are Marriott codes identifying different transfer amounts. Nothing to do with bonus or BA.
