Greeting: We have your Platinum number on file.

Property: JW Marriott Washington DC
Length of stay: 2 nights, Stayed here a year ago
Greeting: Thank you for being a Platinum Premier
Room upgrade: No
Suite upgrade: No
Special requests filled: No
Comment: Wrote to PP mailbox to ask if as a PP I can perhaps get an upgrade, paying about $250/nt for the stay not on points. Replied received "Upgrade is first come first serve" so no special treatment for PP. Can't even get a King bed which was requested during booking. Obviously PP = Gold, nothing special to Marriott.

It's worth noting that, since Platinum Premier benefits (beyond ordinary Platinum benefits) are basically unknown, we can hardly know whether Platinum Premier benefits have or have not been received. I'm PP myself but have trouble getting value from this thread. I never know whether I got anything special, beyond what I would have gotten as a Lifetime Platinum. How can I know that?

In most cases, when a king bed is asked for and confirmed, you are entitled to the $100 payment if it isn't provided.

I am starting to hate PP. Had two or three issues in the past month with status or benefits not being granted, I actually think the status confuses the desk clerks. Recently checked into Ren 57 NYC, the lady gave me the absolute worst room I've had in 6 stays at this property. I am at my wits end with Marriott right now, and am going to send a letter requesting a downgrade of status. SPG is looking pretty good.

No, if there is no difference between plat premier and platinum, I would rather be a platinum and not confuse the hotel employees. One fairfield inn clerk told me they only gave the platinums the best rooms :p

Not at all... I found many properties were confused about PP status and did not even offer Platinum benefits. The 20% dining discount was the only thing I liked about PP and they've dropped that. Once I found out it was gone, I too was going to ask for a downgrade.

Note, the "new" rules got PP just came out with renewal. Or the first time, it stye, "no upgrade to suites".

Still do at hotels I frequent, but GM told me that they only upgrade PPbto best room except suite - est same as P

Well...I think hotels might be starting to get the PP message. I'm around 40 percent on suite upgrades the past couple of months. Then again, is it the LT Plat or PP? Only 10 percent of the time does the FD clerk reference PP status.

But ... I haven't seen worse benefits that I would have received as a Plat so don't know any reason to downgrade status.

And kudo's to Renn STL and Newport Beach Marriott for a couple of great suite upgrades.

Desk clerks just see your current status of Silver, Gold, Plat or PP

A lifetime Plat wihtout PP would appear as a plat, a lifetime Plat with PP appears as a PP

Lifetime plat is not betterthan plat in any way, it is just plat.

LT Plat may not be better...it just means we have been around a LONG time...and i sort of wish that it DID say LT Plat..not for anything extra (though i wouldn't say no..) but more along the lines of.."this guest has been a valued MR Elite for YEARS..please do *NOT* tick them off....." Heck I have probably been a MR member longer than some associates have been alive...

Springhill Suites on Bowie Rd in downtown San Antonio, TX.

Acknowledged as a Marriott Rewards member. No mention of platinum or a platinum arrival gift.

Given a room on floor 2 despite a high floor being in my profile (6 story hotel).
