With 8 stays/15 nights would you go for 15 nights gives 25K points or up to 3 Cat 1-4 certs? What to do, what to do. Not going to make the 20 nights for 35K that was what Marriott chose.

Any idea if this promo will be extended, or if another similar promo will become available for late spring early summer stays?

Is there a summary of all the options?
I am on the 20/25 = 50K but decided to use my Time share for Vacation, so I will be short of hitting that.
Trying to figure out which option I need to request.
Trying to read through the thread and got lost.

Quick Question about Changing MegaBonus Promo
Thank you all for posting to this forum, as a newbie it has been very helpful.
When I originally registered for the Megabonus I was only a Silver member however, I have become platinum after doing the taste of platinum promo and Have stayed over 40 nights since the beginning of the year.
I originally received the 4 stays for 2 free nights in a cat 1-4, however, I would prefer the points. Does anyone know if its possible for me to call CS and change my promotion and any chance they would back date my stays from when I originally registered for the promo?
Thanks for all your help

Send a PM to Marie the Marriott Concierge and she will help you figure out the best plan and change your account. She did this for me even after I screwed up the promotion dates. Should get my last 5 nights this week and next to hit 25 for the promotion.

The free night certs from this promo - can I make a reservation for someone else to use them? I don't have any recreational travel plans, but I know my sister could use them...

Yes you can. I booked 2 nights via 2 certs, in my gf's name. I still got platinum benefits and everything.

(As to redeeming MegaBonus free night certs for use by someone else)
Really? This thread advises that it's not directly possible and that hotels could deny check-in. How exactly did you book MegaBonus nights in someone else's name?

Just received a lecture from MR agent
As I noted previously, the Spring Megabonus never showed up in my account. I called on the 30th to get registered. The agent said there was nothing showing in my account. So I asked to be registered & requested the Stay 2, get 1 free Cat 1-4 cert, and the agent said she signed me up for that one.
I didn't think to ask at the time whether it was a max of 2 free nights or 3. If it was the latter, I was going to change an upcoming 6-night stay at a property into a 2-night stay at a property across the street & then 4 night at the current property booked, so I could get the extra night. If it's the former, I'd keep the current reservation.
Called MR & asked if I was on the 2 or 3 max free night. He replied neither. You're registered for the 15nights/whatever points. I explained that the Megabonus offer had never appeared in my Promo Central, that I called on March 30th, was told I wasn't registered for anything, and the agent signed me up for the Stay 2 promo. He said there was nothing in the records re: it.
I went through it again, and again explained that I preferred the Stay 2 because I was going to come in at 13 paid nights. Also repeated that nothing appeared in Promo Central & I had not signed up for anything. Start of lecture. You were signed up for the points. Marriott determines what promo it will provide you. Guests are not allowed to choose their promos. Rinse & repeat multiple times in a snotty voice.
We went round & round re: it. He finally agreed to note my account that he was making an exception. But then he said I had to call back after the promo ended to get it switched then & to call after May 15th. I have no idea what he put in the notes.
So for those who might have signed up last minute & requested the Stay 2, get 1 free. You might want to confirm the notes are filed for your account.
I'm going to ask MarriottConcierge to sort this out for me. At the same time they can correct the # of nights I've stayed this year, as well as the points that posted 1/1$ vs 10/$.
Cheers.

Questions
Question about end of bonus stays. I normally blow through the nights without thinking, but I took a long vacation during this bonus period.
I am really close to getting the bonus and have questions on the end of the period as I have travel to book then.
For a stay from April 29 - 30 to count, would I have to check out on April 30?
Would a stay from April 30 - May 1 count?
How many nights would an April 29 - May 2 stay count for?
These are the T&Cs that do not make it perfectly clear:
- Registration is required.
- Marriott Rewards® members who register for this promotion by March 31, 2012, will earn 35,000 bonus points after 20 paid nights plus an additional 15,000 bonus points after 25 paid nights – up to a maximum of 50,000 bonus points between February 1, 2012, and April 30, 2012, at participating Marriott properties.
- This offer is non-transferable.
- Nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for credit.
A 'stay' is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/check-out activity
