Sweet! Registered and ready to roll. I'll have at least 12 nights with Marriot in Jan/Feb alone so this promo really gets me at a good time. In combination with the AirChina Gold "challenge" Marriott has really done good for me. I'm planning to just drop Goldpoints plus/Carlson and divert all my nights to Marriott (despite their so-so presence in Europe).

My last visit at a Carlson hotel ended with me stuck in an elevator for 30 min to which the front desk/management offered little apologies for. It's like it was a sign to switch priorities.

This does not start until 2/1.

Oh. Right.
Still 6 nights or so though so I'm not complaining.

This promo seems different than what I have seen before in that you get 0 points until the 20 night threshold is crossed.

Whats yer point ?

This time around tho - the promotions are semi-targeted for the user. So some people are getting a free night after two stays for up to 2 free nights. Mine is points. So after 20 nights I get 35,000 points. If I add 5 more nights - they add 15,000 more points. 50,000 points isn't too shabby :D

Well, that's an extra 2K points per night - previous offers inluded an option of 2.5K per night, so we see a reduction of 20% in bonus points here. While in general not a bad offer (the 2.5k ones usually capped at 10 nights), the relative achievable bonus is lower than with earlier Megabonus-promotions, and it requires more nights vs. the old promotion, which allowed you to participate in other chain's promo. So good from Marriott's view, not so good from a customers's perspective...

Greetings - Dirk

And the previous one was tied to a Visa Card payment, which was total nonsense to me.

It's not different, it is exactly the same promor I got last year for this time frame. If your offer has changed you likely changed your stay patterns putting you in a different target.

Here is another data point.
My Stats:
BIB nights this year: 134
Rollover Nights: 35
Total: 169
Fall Megabonus: Complete for 50,000 points

Pretty much the same kinds of stats for me too (tho ~100 rollover nights), and the same offer - 20 for 35k, 25 for 50k.

Taken from T&C from my Promotion Central:

Registration is required. Marriott Rewards members who register for this promotion by March 31, 2011, will earn one (1) free night award at a category 1-5 hotel after every second paid stay made between February 1, 2011, and April 30, 2011, at a participating Marriott® property.

Still Nothing

Ok, as a Gold Marriott Member, I expected something by now but i checked my account again today and still no individual offer or offer of any kind. It must be that I am registed for the current mega bonus which I will not use because I dont have a visa.

Guess they are going to make me wait until the Q4 is over to see what kind of offer I am going to get. Glad I am getting to read what some of the members are getting but I find it odd Marriott is making me wait to find out what they are going to offer me for Q1.

Found the registration button and it says I'm already registered. I guess its a carry over from the 2010 program.

I am still not finding the offer for me. I'm not really worried about it as my trips aren't planned in advance, but generally scheduled one to two weeks before they happen. I still believe the Q1-2011 offer isn't showing up for me because I only have three of the four stays in the Q4-2010 MegaBonus and have never signed up for a MegaBonus before Q4-2010. They may not have enough info on me to set up a specific MegaBonus. I don't know. I expect that if I don't have a fourth stay by Jan 15, 2011 that I'll get the basic four stays and two nights offer. I have potential for 15 to 20 nights during the Q1-2011 bonus time frame so I'm hoping for a point bonus as well. We'll see.

Automatically Registered

For those of you who did not see anything to register, I was in the same boat. It turns out that I am already automatically registered.

To confirm and to see what you have been registered for, you can go to Promotion Central, under You're Registered, you will see Marriott Rewards MegaBonus, this is the same name as in the current promotion. But if you click on the link, and then click on See Details, it will show your individual promotion details with new dates in Spring, 2011.

Hope this helps for those who think you still don't have a promotion to register.

I don't know about previous MR promotion your are talking about; however, as I always compare apples with apples these three targets for Spring Megabonus 2010 (2/1 - 4/30) offer (max 2K MR bonus points/night):

  • 15 paid nights = 25K MR bonus points; 20 paid nights = 40K MR bonus points
  • 20 paid nights = 35K MR bonus points; 25 paid nights = 50K MR bonus points
  • 20 paid nights = 35K MR bonus points; 30 paid nights = 60K MR bonus points

are same as in 2011! And - as an added benefit - (almost) all Elite MR members are allowed to choose target that fits their needs.
