I don't mind category 4 but the cap of max 2 free nights need to increase in order to complete with others, like in the past Radisson and now PC have more free nights to earn, 2 nights just not enough
|
Folks, that cat4 every 2 stays, with a cap of 2 is just the starter offer for non-frequent travelers. Marriott has offered that for almost every MegaBonus so far. They always have higher level offers, involving points, for people who travel more frequently. I would not worry at all what USAToday says they are offering...
|
I hope they offer a 50 for 100k or some other larger number. I jab a hard time rationalizing staying at a Marriott for base points if I can some other incentive elsewhere.
|
Hopefully I'll fnaly get a REAL megabonus offer.
Lately Hilton has been competeley overwhelming Marriott's puny offers. Specifically: Hilton: Quadruple points PLUS free night for every 10 (Giganitic). Marriott: Up to 50K points (Pitiful). It's time for the ostrich to take it's head out of the ground..... |

I always wonder why Marriott waits so late to start their promotions. This one is only going to run for a short period of time and doesn't start till February. Could it be they have enough occupancy in January? I still wish they would start it in January.

I didn't object: I was also working the Hyatt 10K and the Starwood promotion this fall. I have a very good use for the Cat 4 certs planned in February so I figure this is about as good as getting a 40k promo...but allowed me to spend other stays at Hyatt and Starwood. I realize Plats can call and ask for other promos but some of us do initially get the "base" offer. I've been staying at Marriott's this year and will requal (barely) Plat, but I've been low-revenue...maybe that's why I wasn't targeted for a different offer. |

The USA today article was updated and it looks like it's only good for up to category 4 hotels which sucks.
http://travel.usatoday.com/hotels/po...deals/134443/1 A free Cat. 4 night can be OK in Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Richmond, VA . . . but is nothing to get excited about. |
[QUOTE=Brendan;15450515]I wish they would make it max Cat. 5, which is where desirable vacation properties start: St. Kitts, Aruba, Vancouver, Victoria, BC; some of Chicago, most of Toronto & Montreal, several European cities. QUOTE]
That would be giving away the store (and really exciting your customers)--and you just don't want to do that.... |
Au contraire! Allowing use at Cat. 7 or 8 could be called giving away the store--but wait, Hyatt & PC have already done the equivalent!
|
Nothing beats Hyatt's Faster Free Nights. 2 stays, one free nighte ANYWHERE:cool:

Here's my offer. It just popped up today.
Stay at any of more than 3,300 participating hotels between February 1, 2011and April 30, 2011. Earn 35,000 bonus points after 20 paid nights plus an additional 15,000 points after 25 paid nights, up to 50,000 bonus points! |
In response to Jazzop's post I checked my MR account to find that I'm offered the Cat. 4 FNs for Solar Spring 2011, which is what I prefer, because I don't spend 20 nights in Marriotts in 3 months.
Indeed, this season I have what Jazzop reports, but I phoned in Sep. to request Cat. 4 FNs. |
I got mine
