The Male city tour was $50-60. I remember thinking how could it be this low since it also includes a boat transfer. Guess that's because the city tour is optional, whereas the initial boat transfer is not.

Wink OWB or Cottage in Nov?

So I'm debating right now on switching from Veligandu (All-Inclusive) to the Sheraton in Nov.
Right now they have a killer deal on Asia that puts the OWB with breakfast (and includes the airport transfers) for $850 per night for 4 nights. Still a ton of $$, but combining it with my Citi 4th Night free perk lessens the bite.

Going with an Island Cottage saves about $600 for the stay. I've never done an OWB, but I do have a thing for a killer outdoor shower.

Did you see my post #239? I preferred the cottage to the OTWB because it was in shallow water and no glass floor.

I've been upgraded into a cottage, and was told that OWB are no linger part of the suite upgrade as of last quarter 2014. Posts on this thread suggest otherwise. Unfortunately I don't have any SNA left to do a dummy booking to check if this is the case.

Would someone kindly confirm? I am headed there in less than 12 hours and it's tough..

Thanks in advance!

So I'm booked in the Cottage. The SPG app showed the boat transfer fees included in the room rate (based upon 2 people for 4 days). I was hoping this would be included in the Citi 4th Night Free benefit for Prestige cardholders, but they said they don't include "resort fees" in the refund. (FYI for anyone planning on using that benefit.)

I used an SNA, and OTWBs were not offered. My SNA cleared and I was upgraded to a cottage, and then to an OTWB on the second day of my stay (which I ended up turning down).

Thanks for the confirmation!

Upon check-in, they prepared both rooms type and gave me an option, even to do split stays if I wanted to stay in both room type. As this is my fist time ever staying in an OTWB, I went for that. However I could see why folks would prefer the cottages with the outdoor showers. I love the ability to jump straight into the ocean from my room.

Travelling with kids

Am SPG Platinum and planning to go here with wife and two kids (6 and 8) over Easter. I see from the wiki that OWB is out of the question as an upgrade then, but beach cottages sound nice enough. Some questions:

1. Is a beach cottage Plat. upgrade fairly certain also in high season?
2. Can this room type accomodate a family of 2+2 comfortably? Trying to avoid exorbitant extra-bed fees whenever I can.
3. Can kids access the new Club Lounge?
4. Would Plat breakfast benefit cover also the kids at this resort (room would technically be booked for 2 adults only)? Very differing policies across SPG here.

Thanks!

Unhappy State of Emergency Declared

Has anyone seen the news this morning?
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/tr...-tourists.html

We leave in 6 days. Ugh!

Wouldn't be worried if we were staying somewhere more isolated like the W or the Conrad, but the Sheraton is pretty close to Male.

Hi members,

The Government of Maldives has declared a state of emergency starting today, 4th November for a period of 30 days. Both Starwood-operated hotels in the Maldives, The Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa and W Maldives Retreat and Spa, remain open and operating as normal. The main concern is on the island capital of Male and both hotels are located on separate islands away from Male. Safety and security is of our paramount priority. Starwood Hotels & Resorts will continue to monitor the situation closely in consultation with the appropriate authorities.

I wouldn't be so concerned if we were at the W - a much more secluded resort from Male. Male is pretty close to the Sheraton though, so I'm hoping there is an evacuation plan in place if necessary.

Anyone know how much it costs to use the Club Sheraton if not SPG Plat member?
