Taxis/Tuk Tuks are about $5 each way (and you're contributing to the local economy...)

The hotel is only about 10 mins max from Chiang Rai town. To be honest, I was rather underwhelmed about the town and much preferred the local restaurants right outside the hotel.

This is unacceptable, and if I were you I would have complained to the hotel management. It appears the conceirge was just creating extra business for the private car driver, and I believe they do 'share' the revenue.

It is a little annoying, but everyone, including the concierge, always went out of their way to help me. I'd rather not start problems for anyone over what may just be my misunderstanding.

I was gold a the time I stayed. I don't think we got anything out of it, or if we did, it was incidental. As I recall, the price of upgrading to the deluxe rooms is pretty low, and IMHO well worth it.

I am not sure if they give the option of the deluxe rooms when it is an award stay. The points are so low it is crazy not to use them.. thank you

do I need to rebook for lower redemption rate?

I booked 5 nights at this hotel when it was still a Cat 3. My stay is coming up in two months time, and I am wondering whetehr I need to make another reservation and cancel the other one or whether the change will happen automatically. Thanks.

We used the shuttle and had not problems at all. We were there at the appointed times and the shuttle was never late. A much better option than the tuk tuk mafia.

Overall, terrific resort. Very relaxing and great staff. And the price is right.

Does anyone know if the "Smart Saver" rate at LM Chiang Rai includes breakfast?

Hrmmmm. I am trying to book five nights at LM Chiang Rai and having trouble finding a reasonable rate that includes breakfast (26 Dec - 31st December).

There's a "Deluxe River View" room available on a "Super Saver" rate of 4900 baht. But I am guessing this doesn't include breakfast.

I am an SPG Gold so hoping this would get me an upgrade to "Grand Deluxe Room". But I am not too fussed about which room.

There's a "Grand Deluxe Room" available on an "Upgrade Offer" rate of 7400 baht. This seems to be the cheapest rate that includes breakfast.

The price difference is about 80USD. That's a pretty expensive breakfast by Thai standards. Is there any other way?

Any help would be most appreciated!

P.S. The other angle is that I should become an SPG Platinum member about half way through my stay - so would I be able to get all the breakfasts credited when I check out?

P.P.S. Would the "SPG Award Room" rate include breakfast?

Hi ajca,

If you are referring to the "Free Night Award" at the resort, the answer is no.
