Just spent 2 nights at the Le Meridien Nice on the tail end of a 10 day vacation in France. We were flying back from Nice so I figured the hotel would be a good choice to end our trip after spending several nights in Paris and Cannes prior to arriving in Nice.

Location of the hotel is very good and right across from the beach and around the corner from the main shopping area. The Le Meridien evidently shares the building with the Mercure which seems to take up the lower levels of the structure while the LeM takes up the upper floors.

Arrival went without any issues and we only had to wait approx. 1 hour for our room to be ready. The room we got was exactly what I had booked....a Deluxe room with a balcony. Sadly the balcony was not one of the larger ones you could sit on but merely a larger ledge you could walk out on. Room itself was nicely furnished and in good condition. I found the bathroom to be very strange. It was basically a half done remodel in black and white tiles but the countertop (beige) and floor tiles (blue) clearly had not been changed out. (didn't get a pic of it)

Only gripe I have about our stay is that we got a room that clearly had no wifi reception. When I went downstairs to complain I was told they could hook us up with the help line but then another agent (clearly a manager) chimed in and said that they did indeed sometimes have issues with the reception in corner rooms. Great....give me a corner room which you know has no reception when I chose the free wifi as my amenity. Told we could change but we had already unpacked and I didn't feel like moving. Assumed we could just use the wifi in the lobby but that didn't turn out to be free either

Overall a decent hotel but I probably would not stay there again. For a beachfront hotel it was kind of a let down after having just stayed in Cannes.

Here's a couple of pics (sorry they are a little dark):

Where did you stay in Cannes and where would you stay for your next trip to Nice? The views look spectacular! How's the beach and water in September? How to get from the hotel to the airport? We're doing a BMW European Delivery and will drop the car off at the airport the night before as our flight departs at 7:30am.

Stayed at the Intercontinental Carlton Cannes in Cannes and it is a great hotel. If you want a sea view at the Le Meridien be sure to book a room that offers the views as their regular rooms do not.

When we go back to the French Riviera we will definitely go back to Cannes but we will probably skip Nice and stay somewhere in Eze or even in or close to Monte Carlo. Water was clear but a bit on the refreshing cooler side which wasn't bad considering the temps. The beach in Nice is a pebble beach so do not expect sandy shores.

Nice Airport is a short (approx. Euro 15-20) taxi ride from the LeMeridien. I know there have been posts on taking public transportation to the airport from the hotel area but we chose to take the easy convenient way out and just took a cab. Any other question, just let me know.

The bus stop is literally in front of the hotel, right by the Casino entrance. We managed with just one small rollerboard each, but there were people on there with lot of luggage so the bus is jam packed. However, it is a quick 20 minute ride so we put up with it. 15 euros saved means a cocktail at the next hotel which for me is much more memorable than a cab ride. We had many memorable cocktails up on the rooftop restaurant at this hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel last summer. I think I wrote a review on the LM Nice vs Monaco thread. If we return, we will likely try the LM Beach Plaza in Monaco, just to experience something different.

Sounds like Monte Carlo is nicer than Nice. If we stayed in Monte Carlo both nights, we would need to return the car to the Nice airport the night before checkout. So we would need to go hotel-airport-hotel. Then, next morning hotel-airport. Would seem more convenient to stay in Nice the night before departure.

What's the water temp middle of Sept? Don't really need to swim as we're spoiled by the ocean in Hawaii. Probably more interested in site seeing.

Le Meridien Nice, France [Master Thread]

Looks like there is a Holiday Inn on the Water that is near the airport with shuttle service. We'll probably spend the last evening here.

Shuttle starts at 6:30, our flight is at 7:30, 5 min drive to airport. Is that early enough? Have Sappire One World status. Does that help going through security?

I just booked this hotel on points for March and requested a suite upgrade. Do they do free breakfast for platinums? And what are the amenities offered for platinums. Thanks for any help

Free full buffet breakfast for Plat (even though the breakfast card says continental) as Plat amenity. I was offered free breakfast for all 3 of us, including my daughter.

To be clear, they offer it as one of the Platinum amenity choices. An excellent offer, nevertheless. IIRC, the amenity was 500 points, breakfast or local gift.

This post is very delayed. So sorry.
Stayed at this property in April 2012.
As Gold status requested an upgrade and was put in a room with no balcony access. They were also doing construction at the time which started at 6AM! Called the manager and got upgraded again to an ocean view room with balcony. Kinda wish they had just upgraded us properly the first time but we were very satisfied with how the manager handled the situation.

Any recent trip reports? Specifically wondering if they are still offering a free breakfast buffet as a plat amenity...

Thanks!
