Are there any current referral bonuses where I can get something for referring someone? Or should I just have my girlfriend sign up on her own? If she does, what is the best offer out there right now?

Has anyone been able to get the 15,000 spending bonus added if you applied before it was offered? Possibly at renewal?

If anyone is interested in getting an SPG AMEX card, which I think is the best credit card for bonus miles (if only due to the 25% bonus on airline mileage transfers), please got to: americanexpress.com/spgfriends and apply by 2/29/08 and you will get the 10,000 point sign up bonus, and I get a referral bonus if you enter my referral ID (3073852814) in the "Unique ID" referral field. Thanks in advance if anyone does this.

Has nyone seen promo code for offer of 10,000 points for new card, plus 2,500 points for each of the first four paid stays for possible total of 20,000 for new card?

I know that offer exists for the HHonors Hilton Amex. Have never seen it for SPG. SPG Amex offers 10,000 on signup and 15,000 if you spend $15,000 in 6 months.....

email from amex yesterday:

Get 2,500 bonus starpoints for setting up automatic billpay*

*targeted customers only

Just a quick note about the initial bonus posting. I applied for the Starwood Amex in late fall and made my first purchase the first week of December 2007. At the 10-week mark, I hadn't seen the 10,000 bonus Starpoints post, so I called Amex. The rep told me they'd post at the 12-week mark.

That milestone came and went and on the 14th week, I called Amex again. The rep said he'd take care of it. I checked today and he credited me 12,000. It was nice he added a few extra points for the inconvenience.

I'm expecting I'll need to carefully follow-up when I hit the $15k spending in order to get the 15,000-point bonus.

Not necessarily on the 15k bonus... I had the same experience, with the 10k welcome bonus taking about 13 weeks, and multiple calls... But then the 15k bonus posted IMMEDIATELY, mid-cycle, lol... Good luck!

I NEVER get targeted for Starwood Amex's promos. If you do, can you reveal whether you use your card a lot or hardly ever or if you have any other idea what prompts inclusion? Thanks.

I've only been targeted once during my 3 years of membership

I got a postcard in the mail for a bonus of 1,000 points for the bill pay!

TTT103 Mar 15, 2008 5:00 pm

I too was not targeted for the promotion, and have only received one bonus promotion since the inception of the card. Now that Hilton HHonors have eliminated blackout dates, and there are three times the number of Hilton properties than Starwood, I'm converting my SPG card to a HHonors AmEx in the next few months. The airline mile conversion means nothing to me, as I have more airline miles than I know what to do with.

Really? How many miles?
