No, mine posted 2 days after my statement date this month, still waiting for my sign up bonus points, today is 12 weeks and I was promised it twice within this time frame and still nothing.

Is anyone experiencing a delay in the posting of their monthly points earned from dollars spent on the SPG Amex? Typically the points seems to post within 3-5 days of the end of the statement period. This month however its been 8 days for me since closing and they have not yet posted.

any retention bonuses out there?
Well, my $45 annual fee has become due and I'm thinking of cancelling the card. About a year ago, I shifted most of my AMEX spending to Hilton, after Starwood devalued their program. After Starwood enhanced the C&P program, I started putting charges back on my Starwood card, but I still spend more on the Hilton card (lured to some extent by Hilton Gold at $20,000 spending).
I can't really justify paying the $45 for this "secondary" card, especially because the Hilton card is free. Last year, AMEX threw some points at me when I complained about the Starwood card fee. Today, I called AMEX and said I was thinking of cancelling because it's not worth the fee. I reminded them I've had the card "forever" (back when it was called a Sheraton card). This time they offered me nothing -- seemingly content to let me cancel. Should I call back and get another agent? Are they still offering retention bonues -- fee free or bonus miles? Thanks. |

I just canceled my business SPG Card... They transfered me to retention who offered to convert my card to a "non-annual fee" card. I said, "no thanks". they then canceled the card for me. No offer of miles or anything. |
they offered me 2000 points and I took it. Even though I don't like paying the fee I have to say no other program gives hotels for 3 or 4 thousand points. I no longer need to transfer to airlines, but you get a bonus of 5000 miles when you transfer 20K. If you spend 30K you get upgraded to Gold which benefits you even if you are on a point stay. When I was in San Diego, the hotel was 7000 a night and I was upgraded to a suite. A Hilton in the same area was a lot more than 21000 as I recall which would be the equivalent spending on the card.

25% Bonus on purchases April15th-May15th
Just received an invitation to sign up for a one month 25% bonus on all spending over $750. I'm guessing it was targeted.

technique. This just happened. The bonus appeared on my last credit card statement which I got a couple of weeks ago.

The 3 month mark for my first purchase is tomorrow, and I still don't see my 10k bonus points. I've called 4-5 times to confirm I'd be receiving them within this time frame, and I've been assured each time that I will. I don't see it happening.
So, when tomorrow comes and I still don't have the points... should I immediately call and blow up on them? What have other people that haven't gotten them in time done about it? It is a breach of contract, right? Legally, one could take action? I should hit the 15k spend limit on the card in a couple of weeks, and I imagine the extra 15k points from that will take 3+ months as well? Frustrating.... |
Did you already try logging in at amex and asking by email? Sometimes it might be better to not ask on the phone, when the question requires some investigation. This also gives you proof of your inquiry.
