You get nights/stays credit for each *account* you have. I have multiple personal SPG cards and each one gives me 2 stays/5 nights elite qualifying credit

Officially, the maximum would be 4 stays and 10 nights. 2 stays and 5 nights for one Personal card and 2 stays and 5 nights for one Business card.

If you experienced anything else other than this, then it would be the result of having more than one SPG account number, which is against the terms and conditions of the program, or some other outlying one-off situation.

I charged $6100 at Westin to my SPG Amex. I am SPG Gold. Statement closed and I see 6100 point entry (says SPG starwood spend) and another for 6900 (says SPG Amex base). There are numerous smaller bonuses and stays for rooms. Chatted with Amex and they confirmed I should get 3x bonus on that 6100 charged to SPG Amex for SPG purchase. So I'm confused why the strange 6900 and also why there isn't another bonus. Does it drop later?

The Amex card only posts 2x points for SPG points. The other 3 points are through SPG not Amex. So from Amex you got ur standard 6900 points for all ur spending on the card. (I assume u did $800 in other spending.). Then u got an additional 6100 for SPG spending. So Amex awarded you as they were supposed to.

If you are missing the other 3x, you need to contact SPG. As a reminder, you need to have booked the hotel directly through spg via eligible rates to get credit.

To clarify a bit. Im talking only about bonus points $ charged to SPG AMEX at Westin (not bonus points from stays per se)
The bulk of that charge was for catering. As Gold, I get a separate 50% bonus for an event I held. Do I not get the full 3x for putting it on my SPG Amex? It is coded the same as the charges for stays. I'm now thinking that 50% is instead of that third point.

Assuming you made $6100 of SPG charges and $800 of other charges, you got the points you were entitled to from Amex.

The 3x has nothing to do with Amex. Those points come from SPG and will appear as a separate line item in your account.

The 50% bonus that you would get probably is through SPG not Amex. Amex doesn't "know" that you are Gold.

Yes, those 50% bonus points were strictly through SPG event contract. I've always been confused, though, re what points I get with this card. If someone could confirm my understanding, I'd be grateful.

The $1 spend @ SPG property does not have to be for any specific purchase so long as it's charged as Westin or SPG whatever. Correct?

Then we get various points and bonus for our activities/stays at SPG properties, but these have nothing to do with Amex.

EDIT: I think I understand now: "Earn three Starpoints® for every U.S. dollar spent on eligible stays — a 50% bonus over Preferred." So I'm thinking my "+1 SPG point from SPG Gold" above must ONLY be for the portion of my bill that was for a "stay". So the $1000 in room charges gets an extra 1000 points, but the entire $6100 bill does not b/c most of it was catering.

No. It's much simpler than that:Status has nothing at all to do with the points you get from Amex.

Nope you still don't understand. What you posted here is from the Starwood website not Amex. That's what you are missing. Do not combine the two. Spg pays 50% bonus over preferred. So on your SPG account instead of 2 pts for your charges, you get 3. On your Amex account, you get 2 pts for SPG charges that post to your SPG account when your statement closes. This is two SEPERATE things. You will get a total of 5 points for your charges. 3 from spg and 2 from amex.

Ok, well, my statement did close. I did not get a total of 5x points. I need to go in there and add everything up to figure out the discrepancy. I know they are separate, but b/c I can only see the points entries on the SPG, it's difficult to calculate. I can see the entry description, but there are so many different ones that, again, it's a little hard to distinguish. Thanks for all the help!

UPDATE: In case anyone else needs this info...

I talked to SPG. Here's where the confusion was for me: The event spend earns only 1/3 point, not 3x points, per $ spend. I did get $1 per $ spend on Amex for all charges and got an additional $1 per spend on Amex at SPG. There is a separate line entry for the event 1/3 points plus a 50% bonus on those points. Each "stay" (separate from event) earned appropriate points and bonuses. So in the end (all separate entries) I got 5x points on room stays, 1/3 + 50% points on event $ spend, 2x points on SPG $ spend on SPG Amex, 1x points for other charges on SPG Amex.
