I've always chosen the suite upgrade but I think a standard room upgrade to a deluxe harbour view is not out of the question and would depend more on occupancy and stay history.

Hmh, maybe, dunno.

Different question:
After the upgrade, let's say to a Towers Harbour View Room, can one then still apply points on top to get a bump to a Towers Deluxe Harbour View Room?

I believe you can only upgrade points based on the room that you initially applied.

When you walk down the hall outside the harbour view rooms about half way down the wall bumps out 4 or 5 feet and that and that extra space is the only real difference I see in the rooms. Not sure it would be worth it unless you really want the extra space because the view is the same.

Do SNAs do anything in terms of greasing a non towers to towers upgrade? I assume once booked in a towers room, don't bother using a SNA, correct?

There are no free upgrades from a non-Towers room to a Towers room even with a SNA.

We very much enjoyed the Towers. Even though we moved later to the Ritz Carlton HK, I still ended up missing the Sheraton Towers bedding and the nice breakfast in the Oyster restaurant (not to mention the more convenient location in TST). However, I didn't particularly care for our dinner at the Oyster--poor value for money there.

I don't believe the lounge is open for breakfast. All Platinums receive breakfast at the restaurant.

Correct, Platinums get the excellent breakfast in the main lobby restaurant. The lounge is just for fountain drinks 24/7 and appretizers with basic alcohol evenings.

Why not just pay for Towers access if you're comparing to JW HK? Are the prices at JW really that competitive?

I worry about the construction next to the hotel. Seems major.
