Taxing at RACK rate - does this apply to SPG award bookings?

I've made a reservation at LM Delhi using SPG points. Does the luxury tax scheme apply to SPG award bookings?

i don't think they apply to award reservations but if you get an upgrade then you will have to pay the tax amount from the rack rate of the upgraded room....

This was my experience. India is the one place where you don't want to get upgraded unless you have lots of money to burn...

Cheers,

Saad.....just wondering if you knew the tax rates imposed nowadays. I never check these things. Do they still impose the luxury tax?

What's with this property regarding reward redemptions? They're asking 14000IDR/night, and are were no standard rooms available period from here on out except for two nights in December.

I called up SPG, and they contacted the hotel and was told that if a base room isn't available, a reward stay isn't possible, even if you opt to use more points for an upgraded room. If that's the case, why fall under the SPG brand?

Is this still the case and how much is the surcharge? Do they advise you of this fee at the time of an upgrade?
