This thread refers to the various Marriott brands within a specific geographic area. Marriott Bonvoy hotels in XX usually have posts asking which property is better, etc. Trip reports are usually better suited in the property specific threads.

The Saint has funky decor (might or might not be appealing) but has great location on Canal right next to the RC. The Westin also has a great location further down (toward river) Canal.
Q&C looks nice and has been redone. It's in the CBD. The Renaissance has a good CBD location but I haven't been inside in a few years. I'm not familiar with the convention center hotels but I would
recommend being in the Quarter or CBD.

I agree with danbnash, you will want to be in the French Quarter or CBD area. And there is not going to be free alcohol in any of the hotel lounges in NOLA. I'm more familiar with the Starwood properties and of the top two you listed, I would choose the Westin over Le Meridien.
Is the Renaissance warehouse district in policy for you? Good rooms and good chances for upgrades and some interesting places nearby. They don't have a lounge, just an 'elite room' with water, coffee machine, tea and a few snacks. Restaurant on site is quite good. Within walking distance of both the convention center and the quarter, although closer to the convention center.
Q&C is a cool old building, although some of the rooms are tiny if you don't book a larger one or get an upgrade if they are full. No lounge, but comp breakfast from the menu. A lot of character if you're looking for something different.
Renaissance Pere Marquette is close to the quarter, but is a bit of a walk to the convention center. No lounge but they offer comp breakfast buffet and they used to have an evening menu at the bar where plats can pick a couple decent complimentary apps during happy hour. Also has an 'elite room' with water/snacks etc.
The courtyard and springhill are more of your typical convention hotels so nothing special.

So I have been to NOLA a few times for work. Usually at the Hilton in the past. Wife has never been. She will want to gamble, food and a little of the quarter. I have a decent C/P rate at the Sheraton, but never stayed there. Lounge is a plus for us. We are going Tu-Sat so it is a decent availability for mid day snacks
Thoughts?
Thoughts?
The lounge is located on the 42nd floor and is one of the nicer U.S. domestic Sheraton lounges. It is open 24 hours. The lounge breakfast is served in a secluded section of the Roux Bistro restaurant on the 2nd floor and is an extensive buffet served daily from 6:30 - 10:30 a.m. So, in that regard you get a restaurant quality breakfast and get to choose points as your Platinum amenity! Complimentary Hors D'oeuvres are served daily from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m with beer and wine available for purchase. The rest of the day you can access complimentary water, coffee, tea and soft drinks along with chips and granola bars.
I have received an upgrade to an Executive Suite in six of the last eight stays. But again, as I said I stay here at least eight times each year.

I have a conference in Nov. (not at the convention center) and am holding a reservation at both the New Orleans Marriott at the Convention Center and the New Orleans Marriott but wanted to ask for input on both as it seems the former is a little higher rated on TA but the latter is closer to French Quarter. The stay is planned for 4-nights and while I've been to the crescent city once before it had to be 15+ years ago so want to spend some quality time in French Quarter so location somewhat important but not a deal breaker as walking a few more minutes from a better hotel is fine. Any input on these hotels would be appreciated.

I'm going to be visiting New Orleans in late May/early June with my husband for 6 nights.. I have been there once, many years ago. My husband has never been, so we'll want to be near the main sightseeing locations. I have a free night certificate to use up (up to cat 5), and will book the other 5 nights with points. We are plats.
Based on a couple of posts above, I was going to book the Sheraton New Orleans, since the location is convenient and it seems like the comped breakfast is good. However, the Sheraton is the only option not available on points during this time period. We're not concerned with the property being fancy, so I think a cat 4 would be fine, if the breakfast is good. It seems like many of the Marriott properties are convenient to the French Quarter. We don't mind being in a location that is a bit quieter. So if you're booking with points, and your priorities are a convenient location for sightseeing and a good breakfast, which property is best?
Thanks!

But you choice of the Sheraton is a good one. It's on the edge of the French Quarter so you are close enough to walk in party and go home. The Marriott across the street is ok too. But the W and 4P in the quarter way too loud for me.

Thanks for the tip. I tried a bunch of different combos, and it looks like June 2 (Sunday) & June 3 (Monday) are the no-go dates. Maybe there's a big conference? So it seems the Sheraton is out. Given this, do you have an opinion on what would be a good 2nd choice?

I like staying along Canal St just to get out of the Quarter proper, so the Marriott just across the street is fine, the Westin nearer the water has worked (just strange going through a shopping mall to get there). Many other MPG choices between Canal and Poydras. I go to NOLA to be out of the hotel so long as I can get some sleep, I'm ok pretty much anywhere.

Just stayed at the Marriott - New Orleans during New Years and the Sugar Bowl. I had an interesting experience there.
I wasn't upgraded to a Junior Suite even though there was availability. I'm platinum elite. When I asked (via the new chat function in the Marriott app), I was told I was already upgraded to a suite. I gave my room # and they reassured me I was in a suite. Then the next day I spoke to the front desk where they acknowledged the mistake, they didn't have any more junior suites available. He then tried to convince me that the room I was in was better than a suite. The front desk had told me that I was going to be able to see the New Years Day fireworks from my room. When I told him I was going out for New Years, he stuck with the story the room had a better view.
A few things to note:
1. I value suites over views but he still tried to convince me my room was better.
2. I know I'm not guaranteed a suite unless there was availability which there was.
3. In the end, I asked for a bar credit which he hesitantly gave me $25.

Looking for any recent reports on the Marriott Downtown/Convention Center, as it’s been a while since anyone has commented on the condition of this property. Trip Advisor reviews are mixed (go figure!) but there are several reviews commenting on dated, deteriorating and musty rooms, combined with poor housekeeping. Anyone happen to stay here recently?
My most recent visit to NOLA was back in May and I had a great deal on a rate at The Saint. Nice property with good service and great location, in proximity to the Quarter and CBD. This upcoming visit requires finding a property by the Convention Center, so the Marriott DT/CC makes a whole lot more sense.

Two nights for an older French couple
My Parisian in-laws are going to spend two nights in New Orleans. I want to treat them using points or cash.
my first instinct is the W in the French quarter: small, boutique, little pool, good food.
they do like swimming and lounge access.
Suggestions?

Any recommendation on hotels in New Orleans most likely to clear Suite Night requests? I'm working there for a few months and there are tons of a nice looking hotels. My wife will join for a week in April and I'm hoping to use Suite Nights on a 4 night stay. From what I've read the Sheraton might be a good option but if there's something more stylish with lots of suites that might work I'd appreciate any insights!

Does anyone have a recent experience at the Renaissance Pere Marquette French Quarter Area? Particularly the platinum breakfast benefits (since it looks like the last report in the lounge thread is from 2016).
I have a conference/meeting at the Sheraton this fall (but I often like staying at a different property so I can get away from the conference goers). And this Renaissance looks like it's a few blocks away from the Sheraton but still close enough to get there in a few minutes.
