What are the current offers?
Is there a business version of this card?
Can I apply for this card and earn the bonus after doing so previously?
Once I meet the card's initial spending requirement, how soon will I receive my signup bonus points?
If I cancel my card after the annual free-night cert has posted, will I lose the cert?

Just got off the phone with Chase. I had upgraded to the new Premier card from the old Signature card earlier this year, and after getting the new card, I closed the old card.

Final bill from Signature card had some interesting text:
"Bonus points from Marriott Hotel purchases ... 2820
Points earned this statement from purchases.. 1601
Points transferred to Marriott ...................... 0
Points unavailable for redemption .................. 4421"

Chase customer service representative: "Oh yes, this happens all the time."

Apparently if you close (any Chase Marriott) card account, you will not receive your final period (or periods) of points.

It does say that all over the Ts and Cs.

Doesn't seem fair if you upgraded (rather than simply closing the account).

Given fastflyer said "after getting the new card, I closed the old card", I suspect that "upgraded" meant a brand new card with upgraded benefits.

But I do agree, if someone were to truly upgrade their account to the Premier card, then that would seem to be a bit unfair.

I'm going to be in a city where there is a Category 5 property located and my annual anniversary date whereby the Cat 5 cert is deposited into my account is a few days after my scheduled stay.

Has anyone been able to speed up the deposit of this award?

I now know that MR Customer Service can extend this award for 6 months -- neve knew this until reading it here and confirming that with C/S - but I have the opposite problem!

Anybody have any success with the problem I have presented above?

Thanks,

NJ

Marriott Chase VISA card questions

If you get a Marriott Credit Card and then cancel before the annual fee
do they take back the points you got when you opened the card?
Thanks in advance

No they don't. By keeping it though you get a 1 night certificate good at a cat 1-5 and 15 elite nights (assuming you have the Premier card). For $85 a lot of us consider that a good deal.

Yes- the Marriott is one I will always keep- the free night is worth more than the fee and it has been easy for me to get to gold with the 15 night boost.

Yes the fee is less than a night stay at a Cat 4 and it is good value compared to Hilton card.

I call the Marriot Premier card (assuming this is the one you have) a card with no "net" annual fee.

By no "net" annual fee, I mean the value of guarnateed perks you get with the card (in this case, a category 1-5 free nigh certificate each year you pay the annual fee) is likely to be at least equal in value to the annual fee, no matter what hotel you end up using it at.

And if you can't use one free night a year, I don't understand why you got the Marriott card in the first place.

I agree it is a great value. The free night, but also the 15 elite nights which get me much closer to Gold. I also took advantage of the 70000 bonus sign up.

The spending also earns extra elite nights. You get an extra elite night for every $3000 charged to the Marriott credit cards. The Premier Visa is the way to go (with the annual certificate and 15 nights elite credit as mentioned by others).

Chase keeps a running total of how close you are to the next elite night, and this is carried forward to the new year. I got one night credited in early February, and I had not spent $3,000 on my Premier Visa in the roughly 5 weeks of 2012.

My experience tells me that if you are $2400 towards the next elite night with the Premier Visa at the end of the year that you will only need another $600 in spending in the following year to get another elite night posted.

Does anyone know if the 70,000 point bonus is coming back? Or can anyone give me a referral with this bonus?
