+1

I'm currently at this property on my second stay here in a month. Its true that the arrival experience is underwhelming (I thought the taxi had dropped me off at a back entrance) and the lobby is small. The elevators are small and the guest room floor corridors are narrow and in some disrepair (think chipping paint and stained carpets). Having said that, I found both rooms that I was given to be very comfortable and roomy. Rooms are nicely decorated and in good condition. Oh....and the price is right here. I snagged a great deal for the weekend.

One major fail to report though: I ended up attempting to try breakfast in the restaurant this morning (it was raining outside and I didn't want to go out and get wet). Hardly anyone in the restaurant when I arrived. One waitress who was totally incompetent and basically ignored me (even though there were only two other tables of people there). I ordered coffee which she said she would get and also bring me a menu. After ten minutes, neither arrived. I gave up and walked out.

The RIDI restaurant may be perfectly nice for a dinner experience....but it was a total fail for breakfast.

Overall, I kind of like this property. It is kind of quirky and has some personality. If one can get a good rate, its worth staying here and overlooking some of its shortcomings.

I'm noticing that the place is supposed to be undergoing renovations.

Does anyone know what the best renovated rooms are? Are the Junior Suites reno'd yet? How much is the upgrade on plt breakfast to real breakfast?

I stayed here before and the room was tired. It seems that everyone likes the new rooms but not the suites as they may not have been renovated.

Is there still $9 a day parking available?

Just finished a stay...give it a miss.

Refurb is in some rooms and not others and is not being done on a floor to floor basis.
The refurb rooms are kinda going for a pseudo W vibe, but the furniture is rock hard and very uncomfortable (style over substance).
Had major issues with the a/c that they couldn't fix due to not having a replacement theromstat in stock.
This is kind of a low rise 12 or 14 stories only, so the traffic noise from Sherbrooke can be quite intrusive if you are a light sleeper like me, or if the hum from the non working a/c isn't providing white noise.

Cold buffet given to plats is very basic and is boring by day 2.

House keeping is not consistent as I had to call down on a daily basis for missed items (washcloths, shampoo, bags for the ice buckets...stupid little things like that).

On the upside, its a nice 'hood and the valet guys are fast.

I've stayed here at least 5 X before and I think this will be the last.

...the $9.00 at the hospital across the street is now $20. You might as well pay the $27 for valet...they are very quick.

I'm not a huge fan of this hotel, especially when you have the Sheraton and Westin as alternatives. My main complaint is the restaurant. The service is hit and miss and they have an automatic gratuity for the breakfast. I could see if I was part of a big group but it was just me.

Just stayed at the hotel this week. Not super impressed.

The reno is already looking dated and wearing out too fast. Small lobby - no extra services (spa, etc.). The restaurant is a write off.

Service was OK but not great. I asked for 4pm checkout and was told the best they could do 'was 2pm'. I was not in dire need of it - so I did not make an issue but 4pm checkout should be guaranteed. Key machine was not working - so had to be escorted to the room. Keys came up about 40 minutes later.

Valet parking is $27 but the valet is always inside the hotel and the 'drive up' is out on the street around the corner. So, the valet is never there - he was in talking to the front desk staff all the time. It would probably take less time to go park the car yourself instead of waiting for the valet to come out. I had to go in to get him each time that I wanted to park.

That said - if you get a good rate and just need a place to stay - it might work for you. But, we will probably not go back.

Currently at property. Was upgraded to junior suite as Platinum. Lobby behind renovated. Room was renovated. However the A/C does not chill the room below 19C. Luckily there is a vent you can open and outside air is -7C.

WiFi free for all and only one speed option.

We definitely have different views on what constitutes "optimal room temperature"

Renovations completed.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT) today announced that Le Méridien Versailles in Montréal has completed a comprehensive renovation of the intimate 108-guestroom hotel, including two penthouse suites; the debut of the signature Le Méridien Hub™, an innovative reinterpretation of the traditional hotel lobby into a social gathering place; and the unveiling of all new meeting and public spaces within the hotel.

I stayed two months ago. Wasn't bad. I would definitely stay again especially if 7,000 SPG points a night during summer.

I stayed at both the Westin and Le Meridien.

My preference is Le Meridien. More intimate and also automatically upgraded to a suite.

Westin is a larger business hotel. Breakfast spread is larger at Westin but Le Meridien lets Platinum order egg and breakfast meat dish in addition to spread. Now that they renovated. I would expect category to go up next year.

My five night stay coincided with the grand reopening celebration. Lots of SPG folks were there and the staff were so excited to welcome them. The MOD was nice enough to invite me to one of the parties which was great.

My first room was not to my liking (next to the elevator-view of an alley) but the MOD gave me a nice upgrade to a large deluxe room on a higher floor with a nice view of McGill and Mount Royal. This newly refurbished room featured a huge desk/dresser and a very comfy reading chair with matching ottoman. The new decor is pretty modern with blues and grays as the main color scheme. The bath fixture look new and although the bath room was on the small side it was fine for a solo traveler.

This location is pretty great if you are working/visiting McGill or Concordia Universities as they are very close-as is a Metro Green line station. I also discovered a newly opened place for breakfast down the block which I recommend highly. https://www.yelp.com/biz/all%C3%B4-m...ontr%C3%A9al-2

The Management here is the real star as far as the staff goes. They could not have been nicer to me. There are still a few things to work out but I am sure this hotel will be great when it is all ready to go!

At the property again. Quite a steal at 7,000 starpoints. Last minute trip, W not avail. Hyatt not avail. Sheraton and Westin was 12K starpoints. In my book, the point difference is already a no brainer. Checked SPG this morning and hotel already blocked me into a junior suite.

Lobby looks very nice. Elevators went thru a "renovation" (not sure if they fully replaced it or just renovated the cabin).

Only minus is that when they did the room renovations, they kept the bath tub.

Definitely moving up SPG categories next year.

take the points

suggest you take the SPG points. I have been offered both @ this property. The breakfast isn't bad - just not Sheraton quality! Also, check out the Museum of Fine Arts (Beau Arts) across the street - my PF!
