I'm able to book in May. Shows a rate of $89 on certain nights. I tried www.Starwood.com

Thanks! That worked. Maybe my question should be did I miss something re www.spg.com? I've alway used that to log onto my account and book. This Starwood.com site showed no problem. Tried this from a PC and Mac so who knows. Thanks again.

Just one question.

Why on earth would you want to stay opinion the dump that is the Sheraton Puerto Vallarta?

Puerto Vallarta must have some of the worst hotels in the known universe but the Sheraton is the worst of the worst. You are better off in the Holiday Inn or Comfort Inn.

I live here so should know! And yes, can't wait to get out...

Read TripAdvisor and see how bad all the hotels are. Bad management is at the root of it.

Sircharlie (welcome to flyertalk!),

Tripadvisor seems to have good reviews of the hotel. Not great, but good. Can you expand on your issues with this hotel? Where would you suggest otherwise:

I just stayed at the Westin PV on January 2nd and thought it was very nice. I stay at Westin Times Square, St. Regis Punta Mita, Westin Florence, etc. Thought Westin PV was nice. Have stayed at the Sheraton PV and did not think it was as nice. Plus if you are a platinum. The Westin lounge is nice. Great staff.

Does anyone have a recent stay here? Review online are mixed and some mention problems getting wifi reception, which is a deal breaker for me. I have 24 hours left to cancel for free!

I just got down staying here on 3 nights on two separate occasions last week. I will have my full review up on Monday most likely however if your concerned about the wifi I will indeed say it is the WORST wifi speed I have ever encountered. Worse than the days of dial up it seems.

I just learned that this hotel went from a CAT 3 to a CAT 4. That's a wee bit hard to understand.

So this place is back to a CAT 3 as of today, but when I search for award (free night) inventory for later this year, the website shows NO availability. When I call into the PLAT desk, they tell me there is lots of open availability, but it's all for upgraded room categories. When I ask them to review the available categories, it's almost a laugh -- it's essentially the top half floors of the ENTIRE PROPERTY! For anyone who knows this massive hotel, you can appreciate how ridiculous that is.

This isn't all that high of a hotel, but it's about as W-I-D-E as they come anyplace..... to think that they've assigned the top half of their room inventory as a higher category is really a little bewildering. I've randomly typed in numerous dates for the back half of the year (incl the deadest month of all -- SEPTEMBER) and found *NOT ONE DATE* with open inventory. Wow. Even more wild is that many of those dates show C+P availability -- safe to assume, lurkers, that this is an inventory loading error? (Why would C+P inventory be bookable, yet standard room inventory blocked?)

This hotel has long been a little sneaky on a number of fronts. I'm disappointed to see what looks like yet another attempt to skirt the rules by the management of this property.

Might just be one of these.

Unfortunately, my go-to-gal has gone home for the day, but we'll get the wheels rolling as soon as possible to see what's going on.

Also, it seems that their junior suite is never available. Did they take it off the inventory for good?

I'm told this should be sorted now. Feel free to let me know if you find it otherwise.

There are only six of these in total inventory, so it may be that they have chosen not to offer it for sale online. A lot of properties with limited suite inventory do this and especially so if they are convention property where suites are often given in contract to event organizers.

Will this affect the processing of the SNA?

Only if they are taken out of inventory for a given set of dates. Just because they don't show up at spg.com doesn't mean they aren't in inventory. You should not be using spg.com anyway to determine if a suite used for SNA purposes is available.
