Paris city tax for hotels. It is a per person tax collected for all stays. There is no VAT for stays on points.

I don't think it's a Paris tax, but maybe an airport tax. I've done dozens of award stays at Holiday Inn's in Paris and never paid a cent in tax.

Or was it perhaps Unicef?

No, it wasn't the one euro Unicef because they asked me if I wanted to add another Euro to the 1.5 Euros I already owed.

Don't bother. When french politicians run out of lies, they come up with a new tax ...

I just finished a stay here. For the very first time in 15 years, most years as Platinum, I got a suite. A nice club suite (433) which is thanks to the new Starwood Suite option. It was nicely appointed with the exception of unforgivingly not having a power outlet at the desk. This seems pretty crazy considering all the other rooms on this floor have a nice universal power strip.

But there is lots of space and a single bed in the living room which would be handy if you want to put 3 in the suite. The bathroom is larger too with both a shower and full bathtub.

This is my first stay since the Club renovation and I am very happy with the changes. There is lots more space now and the food has really improved. There is a library of books to read too.

Also I got a gift! I don't know if it is because I'm Platinum or because of the suite, but there was a cute mobile phone holder waiting for me, compliments of the GM. Its a nice way to make my Iphone stand up on the desk.

I would appreciate any help. I will be flying to Europe and decided to stay 3 nights in Paris. I was planning on staying in downtown Paris the first two night and the last night at this hotel. I will have two small kids and lots of luggage (I know) and I was wondering if anybody was able to leave few bags at that hotel at the time of the arrival and pick them up during the check in? (even with some not extreme fee) They would have the bags for about 48hours before my check in. Thank you

And I am only Gold

Unless you have a very early weekday morning flight, I would just stay in the city and take a taxi to the airport in the morning. The standard rooms in this hotel are small and not able to accomodate 2 adults (assumed since you didn't clarify) and 2 kids.

If you do stay here, the hotel should be able to store your luggage until you check in. You should call/email them to verify.

Thank you. I will be traveling with my husband and 2 years and 3 years old kids (one can sleep in the crib and the older one will sleep with us). My flight is on Friday at around 10.30 so I thought that it may be easier to stay at the airport for the last night. I have emailed them about the luggage and I was told that as long as I have the reservation at that hotel they will be able to store the luggage. Thank you for your help and I hope it work out.

Is it possible to use extra points on points stay to upgrade for bigger room. Sorry for all the questions and thank you

Perhaps. This hotel offers a Specialty Award that includes Club Level room types, although I'm unsure if these are any larger than standard rooms. They may be the same size, but have upgraded amenities.

They also offer a Suite Award for 2 X the price of a Standard Award. Those are for Junior Suites.

I believe there is a room capacity limit of 3 people for either of these.

You would have to call the Customer Contact Center to see if either of these awards are available for your travel dates.

Hi folks,

I am flying to Paris next week, and taking a train afterwards. However, I have to spend 3.5hours in the airport in between.

Do you know if, as a SPG Gold, it is possible to use the Club lounge?
Many thanks,
Pierre

Unfortunately not unless you have a confirmed booking to a Club Room.

You can't just walk up and use the lounge. But you can book a day room and presumably a Club day room. However there's no point in using the Club during the day. It would only make sense around happy hour.

I have a 3 hr CDG layover this summer, on a Saturday. Several years ago, I encountered one of the single best cheeseburgers I've ever come across, in any country, at the Sheraton restaurant. It was the one with seats close to the moving sidewalk, so effectively inside of the terminal (as opposed to deep inside the hotel).

Anybody happen to know if it is still on the menu? I'd rather not experiment with clearing customs/re-clearing security...but if I was reasonable certain the burger is still on the menu, I'd definitely try.

I can ask spg.com to ring for me, just figured I'd start on FT.

Stayed here Tuesday night. As a Gold didn't get Club Level or upgrade etc....

Not sure what I expected, but I was glad I had used points and wasn't paying for that hotel. Bed was not very comfortable and the plugs in the desk area didn't work.

Overall it was just OK, not really outstanding. For future stays I will probably go back to the Hilton, just liked it better for some reason.

You can call the hotel directly. The staff speak reasonably good English. I had lunch there recently with a couple Flyertalkers but we had the buffet. I am sure they still have Cheeseburgers available since this hotel strongly caters to Americans, but I haven't tried them. The cheeseburgers that is.
