Thanks Land-of-Miles for the great suggestion. Burger & Lobster is the best new London joint I've been to in many years.

But back to the Park Lane Hotel. I have stayed here many, many times in the past, but for the last 4 or 5 years I've instead stayed at the IC Park Lane or IC Westminster or the Four Seasons. Yet I decided to stay once more at the Sheraton and I'm shocked at how poor this hotel is in comparison. I got a nice upgrade to a studio suite facing the park, but this room hasn't been renovated in at least 20 years. It just seems so downtrodden in comparison to the newer and renovated hotels. The internet speed could use a renovation too.

I love this area, but I'm glad this was one night stay and I won't stay here again til they do a good renovation.

You're absolutely right, but aren't those hotels usually in the 300-400 GBP range whereas SPL is generally somewhat cheaper?

Well yes for the Four Seasons, but the IC's can be had for less. On my corporate rate I can usually get the IC Westminster for under 200, but not this week unfortunately. The IC Park Lane used to be cheaper too, but nowadays is mostly above 200.

Still for the price I paid for this hotel I could have gotten something better elsewhere. Even a renovated Holiday Inn would be better.

Indeed - sometimes the LM Piccadilly is around the same price - maybe 20 GBP more expensive - much better value IMO.

This is also true for redemption nights where the 2 ICs are an absolute bargain compared to the PL.

I 100% agree with you on this one, The hotel needs major improvement. It is part of the luxury collection and I am sad to say that this is the worst luxury collection hotel I have ever stayed in. It needs an update!

IIRC, it's a Sheraton Hotel, not a luxury collection hotel.

Hotel Renovation Beginning September 1, 2014

Beginning September 1, 2014, the hotel will be undergoing a transformation. We are very excited to be making a major investment in the hotel which will result in completely renovated guest rooms and public areas. During the period of the renovation, the hotel will remain open and will continue to offer all of its current services.

Long overdo, by many years, but I wouldn't even think about staying there until the renovation is over!

Great news! I've never been disappointed at this property, but it does need a refresh.

Cheers,

Cheers,
I wonder how far they will go though? The scale of the refurb required is huge and I do wonder if they will fully refurb all rooms and bathrooms and install AC to all rooms which is what the property really needs?

Shouldn't this property also get a lounge as a Sheraton?
