Marriott Elite Benefits at EDITION Hotels
Hello just posting here to inquire how many elite benefits are provided to you at EDITION hotels. I know they can vary, but I’ve read you can’t use SNA’s at EDITION hotels and they don’t serve free breakfast either. Just a welcome gift of 1,000 points, that’s it.
In your experience, have they made up for this in other areas such as providing a spending credit to use during your stay, or upgrading you to a Suite (or are they also stingy on suit upgrades?)
Thanks

There are not many EDITION hotels around so it can be worth checking the policy of a particular EDITION you want to book before assuming benefits are nil. I know Bodrum EDITION gives free breakfast and will upgrade to suites if available.

Overall, the only meaningful difference between elite benefits at EDITION and St. Regis is the lack of a breakfast benefit imo. While you cannot SNA into EDITIONs, SNAs have become increasingly useless anyway.

I have two experiences at EDITIONs (New York and Abu Dhabi) where they have granted suite upgrades to people with no previous stays. I got a pretty decent upgrade to the West Hollywood edition.

- Location: Its in a prime location for LA and its probably $35-40 uber everywhere you want to go but the location is safe and fantastic.
- Upgrade: I booked a Standard King but in 3 occasions I did get upgraded to Deluxe King/Loft
- Platinum Benefits: No free breakfast was provided but I did get late check out till 1/2pm
- Room: The room it self - the decor/the space/furniture I much prefer than W/JW/Westin/Autograph collection and the Le Labo amenity toiletries are fantastic.

Fine hotel and priced reasonably. I prefer the WA Beverly Hills but ymmv
I stayed at Edition Hotel - West Hollywood and others around the world (Barcelona, London, Abu Dhabi). They don't formally recognize any elite (e.g. like late check out, SNA upgrades, breakfest and etc) but they do give out points as a welcome gift. In terms of West Hollywood:

I have stayed at the Tokyo Edition multiple times. I have always received a suite upgrade, except once where I was asked if I wanted a room with a terrace as booked, or a suite without a terrace.
Always 4pm check out. And always a nice welcome amenity. Plus of course the policy driven 1,000 points.

This past July, we (my family) decided that it would be fun to try out the Miami Beach Edition. I had a similar discussion with their front desk manager who immediately offered us a $60/room credit per day ($120 daily credit in total). He also upgraded our rooms for about half of the cost difference between the rooms we booked and the ones we were hoping for. We had a wonderful stay.
Conclusion: I suggest getting in touch with the specific hotel and seeing if they can be persuaded to offer you something. I am batting .500 so far ...

Or try speaking to a professional travel advisor who is part of the Marriott STARS program who can offer elite like perks on paid rates at all Editions. There are several active on FT and there are several threads. Many are essentially small business owners who would welcome additional revenue after the last 19 months

I hope you can submit this feedback somewhere. While I realize these preferred agent programs would never be able to match cheaper rates you get through program discounts (ie AAA, founders card, corporate rates), I have increasingly noticed that the standard preferred agent rate is much more expensive than the “package” rates offered by some hotels. At that point, the rate difference is greater than the cost of breakfast to begin with. Would love to see more pay 2 stay 3 promotions that are more flexible (because not everyone stays at hotels in increments of 3/4 days) or at least a way to get these rates more competitive with what hotels are offering directly. I also wish the $100 property credits could be changed per stay to per stay OR per X number of days as I am currently huge there disincentivized from booking long preferred agent stays. Thx.

However, generally speaking yes if you are willing to work with pre-paid rates and those payment terms then you might win on the price side of things, but not always on the value
A professional advisor can still book you a pre-paid rate at an Edition property
If you want to talk big picture, let's go off this thread about perks at Edition properties
