Comments: Got a small, old, cramped room on the first floor with view of the gas connection and A/C unit for the pool building. Cash rate for the night was over 500$ so I guess I got this room because they were losing money with award stay.

Property: Bethesda Marriott (Bethesda, MD)
Date(s): Oct 2019
Room booked: Standard 1 king
Room received: Standard 1 king
Elite Level: Platinum
Award stay: No
Rate Type: Advance purchase
LNF stay: No
SNAs redeemed: No
Comments: Checked-in via app requesting 2PM arrival time, first upgraded to a "Concierge level" king room and then to an Executive Room, non of those rooms were available when I showed up at 2PM like planned so I was given the choice to wait "a couple hours" for an upgraded room or take a standard room. Took the standard room because I didn't want to wait.

Comments: had to ask the front desk to remove the breakfast charges, then had to call the hotels accounting twice to have the folio corrected and a credit for the over charge of $274 removed from my AmEx. I really should never leave a hotel without a printed and reviewed folio after a FDA says they’ll make corrections.

Comments: Very late arrival close to midnight after a TPAC flight. Had to wait to check in as only one agent was working. Room was a fair bit of walk from elevator. Tiny room and very tiny bathroom. Since we had less than 9 hours in the the room we just wanted to get to bed asap. M Club was very crowded the next morning. Though with the location being in between terminal B and C, with an underground tram station in front of it, they can charge hefty premium for weekday nights. (at $220+ versus weekend at $118).

Residence Inn Silicon Valley North

Property: Residence Inn Silicon Valley North (Dual branded property also the Fairfield Silicon Valley North)
Date(s): 11/3-6/19
Room booked: King Studio
Room received: King Studio
Elite Level: (Platinum, Titanium, Ambassador) Lifetime Titanium
Award stay: (yes/no) No
Rate Type: (Off Peak/Standard/Peak) AAA
LNF stay: (yes/no) No
SNAs redeemed: (yes/no) No
Comments: New property. Has a bar that also serves appetizers/lite dinner. Given coupon for free drink or appetizer at the bar during check in. Residence Inn and Fairfield share the same facilities including breakfast. I booked it as a Residence Inn stay to get the better breakfast. Now that I know the breakfast is the same, I will book it as a Fairfield in the future to get more points. Room types must vary (perhaps by floor) for the Residence Inn vs. Fairfield format. It ia all one building with no separation between the brands in the common areas.

Comments: Upgraded shortly after booking to Luxury Suite, then to Presidential Suite morning of arrival. First time in this suite. It's identical to the Governor's Suite in floor plan and furnishings, but a floor higher, on 33 (top floor). So it has higher ceilings and larger windows (with cross beams). I came down sick my first night and had to extend the stay two nights. I offered to move to a base room, as they were showing fully booked for night 3, but property let me keep the Presidential suite at the rate I had booked (i.e., for Grande Suite). A very generous gesture, which I will not forget.

SNAs redeemed:SNA requested, 2 nights, denied. Upgraded by property on Status day before arrival.

Comments: In reply to a pre-arrival email from the butler service, I mentioned that I had applied 2 SNAs. The property was well aware. The SNAs did not clear yet I was upgraded to the St. Regis Suite the day before based on status. When I was checking-in the GM dropped by to personally thank me for being Titanium. He noted that my SNAs didn't clear but he was happy to advise that they were able to upgrade me without them. With an unobstructed view of the Parisian & the Eiffel Tower, I anticipate it was not part of the SNA pool. I was also provided with a letter listing all of benefits I had available to me during my stay.

Memorable stay. Incredible staff, excellent Elite recognition. During check-out, the head of Butler Services dropped by to meet us, he was not working during our check-in.

Comments: an average stay overall. Beach is not swimmable. Pool is small for the property of this size. Service was ok. However staffs were nice and helpful. breakfast is also quite good. Nothing else was memorable. Might not return due to location, it’s far from everything except airport.

Comments: Upgraded a few days prior to check-in so I knew about it upon arrival. Older hotel in need of a refurb but surely large rooms with good service. Annoying that they have no free business center use whatsoever (want to print something, you must pay). Other than this - decent stay. Now if they could just get some outlets near the bed.
