Now ...if current Ambassadors using the Android app could see what Marriott is tracking for spend!

It appears that spend is available for (a) Apple app users, (b) Android users who are currently not already Ambassador, but not for Android users who are Ambassador. Since Android has a 75 percent market share ....that's pretty stupid.
Interesting. I downloaded the Bonvoy app on my iPad and yes, I can see my spend (although in portrait mode it chops part of it off). The dial is still just plan black and says 'Enjoy Ambassador', but underneath where it shows points and nights, it shows a third spot for spend.

Android App
TOTAL POINTS NIGHTS

TOTAL POINTS NIGHTS SPENT

My 95% experience has been just base room rate, nothing else. I did just have a stay at W Westwood post including restaurant. But that's an outlier for me . . . most everything is posting without restaurant or any other spend (and certainly not 10% of base points). For me that's thousands of dollars per year not being counted.
Mine is the opposite. I just installed the app on an iPad and I can see my spend for the first time since I hit AMB last year. It ties out almost exactly (14 USD off) to Room rate + F&B to my spreadsheet.

Same here.

I do not know how they would exclude tips. The restaurant charge + tip shows up as a single line item on a folio. I mean, yes it is definitely doable and not complex, but given that we can't see spend on an Android app for no good reason... not counting on this ability.

I haven't really charged anything to the room other than restaurant/bar charges so, I am not sure how other ancillaries shake out, but for me, it matches what it was last year; more than just room spend.

. . .
My last two stays have had folios with up to four line items for each restaurant charge. 1) Food; 2) Liquor/Wine; 3) Tax; and 4) Tip.

Interesting. Some places (like a few Ws) have an extra page with a breakdown but most just have a single line item in my experience.

If you have time/willingness can you share where and more details? Curious.

What contributes to the $20K for Ambassador Elite

Do payments for a colleague's room and events (meeting room, food, etc.) contribute to the $20K spend for Ambassador Elite?

Room rates up to 2 rooms

ancillary spend (a bit tricky)
some ancillary spends is not included if it supplied by 3rd party

for example, if the airport transfer is done by hotel in house fleet the spends is counted but if hotel use 3rd party supplier then it is not

no events spends count I believe.

It appears that whatever contributes to base points is what contributes to the $20k counter. The total spend counter in the iOS app matches to the dollar the total spend eligible for base points in my tracking spreadsheet.

Hi mjack99,

The $20,000 U.S. dollars requested is based on Qualifying Charges earned on Stays in a Qualifying Period. You may view 2.1.b. Qualifying Charges in the program terms and conditions for more information.

If you need any further assistance, please let us know.

Oh, one other question, how do I found out exactly how much I have spent? There is no record of it online.

I have only found my YTD spend in the iOS app. Not the Android app and not the website.

Ok so putting a bit more nuance around this question, I tend to travel with a colleague who has his own Bonvoy account and he puts the points on his card but I pay for the room on my CC. Is this counted toward the $20K?

This is not my experience. I am consistently under credited by hundreds of dollars per stay. Specifically, restaurant and spa spend is not credited at Asia properties, either for base points calculation or towards the $20k. I've probably been shorted over $2k this year already.

Indeed, not mine either...just fighting with them on one of these right now. Still, rooms I paid for, for a colleague that has not Bonvoy account, I know I can get credited with some effort. I am still wondering though, if rooms I have paid for, for a colleague that does have a Bonvoy account are counted in the $20K (what a complex sentence construction).
