I had 21 stays on the SPG dashboard before Aug 18, but 6 of those came as a result of a SPG Select promo that gave double elite credits from Feb-Apr.

The problem is there's now nothing to indicate those stays (and I forgot to take a screenshot). They say I have 15 by counting them manually.

I've called several times since the changeover but each time the answer is the same. They tell me to wait a while and it will all get sorted out. I'm far from convinced that I will ever get those stays back.

Any chance you still have the email announcing the promo or find proof online? They may be more willing to dig in once things settle out.

Yes, the last time I told them that I have it on record but the CSR essentially said that I should just sit back and wait and cross my fingers while holding a rabbit's foot and a silver horseshoe.

I tried sending another email (web form) to Marriott with confirmation of this info but it bounced back due to Marriott IT being unfit for purpose (on the plus side it was the first time any email I sent in the last two months produced a tangible response).

The CSRs are poorly equipped to get extraordinary things done but they are our contacts. I have no doubt their contacts are still overloaded so waiting is wise. Nothing is going to get done in the timeframe we want. The only choice is to give them time to get it worked out. If you are losing any credit because of their delay, track it and submit it when everything calms down. Screaming, yelling, threatening to leave is not going to get any attention. Remember, we (members) are a very small part of their customer base. And FT members are even much smaller.

Well I haven't resorted to screaming and yelling yet but I'm under the eye of the clock in the sense that I need to come to an agreement with my partner over our upcoming Q4 stays. If I knew my stay credits would reappear, I could work in the few remaining SPG stays needed for Platinum with a clear conscience but without them I would prefer to cut my losses and concentrate more on Hilton - I don't have to put up with a terrible website and CS mayhem and their promos are way better right now (the 2500 M&M miles per stay is a big deal for me). I'm happy to stuff in the requisite Flex bookings and leave things to the last minute, and I'll even do 4 late December stays on my own if need be but I'd prefer not to and the OH likes to decide 2-3 months in advance exactly where she'll be staying.

I'm not sure how more clear it can be.

System Not Recognizing Double Stay Credits From SPG Promo

I have not merged my accounts yet as I want everything straightened out in my SPG account first. I am still showing as Gold even though I should be Platinum.

Earlier this year I signed up for a SPG promo wherein I would get double elite qualifying credits for stays/nights. I had five stays during the promo period and the system quickly recognized me as Gold as it recognized that I should be credited for 10 stays.

After finding out that legacy SPG elite qualifying through stays was still in effect until the end of the year, I decided to go for Platinum. I completed my 25th stay at the end of August and with all of the IT issues that have been going on I was not surprised that I was still showing as Gold on my 26th stay a couple of days later. However, that was a while back so I camped out on hold today to see what the problem was. After a long wait I finally got a chance to speak at length with someone. She said that she could only see 21 stays. At first I thought that five stays were missing but I eventually realized that the system was not counting the five extra stay credits from the promo. I was told that I would have to e-mail Research so they could look into it so I did so.

Assuming I am correct as to what the problem is, I am not sure how many people would be affected by this problem as I believe it was a targeted promo. Hopefully this can be fixed as I would rather not have to stay four more times to achieve Platinum.

Does your account (still) show the bonus nights?

Yes, the double nights are showing so the system does recognize that part of the promo.

"Legacy" SPG Elite stay qualification....

I've read it several times and still want to make sure that I'm clear on this: according to Marriott:
  • Starting January 1, 2019, Elite status will be achieved on nights and not on stays. Until then, SPG members can achieve status based on stays at SPG-associated brands only, AND can also qualify based on nights across the 29 brands.
In my situation, up until the August program merger date, I had 7 stays at SPG properties. I'm Platinum with Marriott but I believe it was because of linking from SPG from last year and I need about 20 nights at Marriott this year to re-qualify for Platinum in 2019.

I'm assuming that even if I do have 3 more stays at SPG properties (e.g. Westin, Sheraton etc) before the end of the year, that I will re-qualify for SPG Gold for 2019. But with the new program changes, will this no longer transfer to being Platinum with Marriott? I know the chart says SPG Gold = Marriott Gold now but I just want to be ABSOLUTELY sure that this correct and that I wouldn't then qualify for Marriott Platinum as last year due to the change?

The only reason I'm checking is because I have a limited number of stays I can do the rest of this year and if I'm only going to be Gold (I can qualify for Lifetime Status by combining) then I'd rather spend my money qualifying for Gold with Hilton where I will get the free breakfast etc.

Yes, ending the year with 10 stays in legacy SPG properties should qualify you for SPG Gold. Unfortunately, that will not get bumped to MPG Platinum (MR Gold does). You need over 50 nights to get MPG Platinum. If your combined accounts will get you to MPG LTG, then there's no reason to shoot for SPG Gold on stays.

There is lots of confusion with the linked status match and status bumps. And it doesn't help Marriott was biased to their own program (i.e. originally only MR LTPs could become MPG LTPPs, MR G become MR P, etc.). We might see some changes, but this is what we have to go by right now.

If I am not mistaken Lifetime Gold in Marriott translates to the new Lifetime Platinum Elite. My stats say I have 6 nights as gold/platinum (and 20 + as silver or better) which I think includes my current Marriott Platinum status for this year. If I finish my 25 stays at starwood legacy hotels(thus earning spg platinum) and than merge my account would I get the last year of platinum this year to qualify as a life gold this year and thus Lifetime Platinum in the new program or did I have to do that by August merger date and will wind up lifetime gold in 2019.

I wouldn't describe the situation at all as Marriott being biased toward their own program as during the merger, SPG Plats (25 stays or 50 nights) were matched to MR Plat (75 nights) and SPG Gold (IIRC 10 stays or 25 nights) were matched to MR Gold 50 nights, while MR Gold (50 nights) was just matched to SPG Gold (10 stays or 25 nights) and MR Plat (75 nights) as well as MR PP (unpublished invitation only tier) were only matched to SPG PlatMinus (25 stays), not SPG Plat50/75/Amb.

No, sorry. This is not how it works. You must meet the legacy SPG Platinum or Marriott Gold requirements by 12/31/18 ... so 10 years plus 500 nights OR 1.6 million points and 500 nights. That is for LT Platinum. With your stats you would qualify for LT Gold assuming you have enough LT nights.
