I have a OC8 that was booked in what is now a Cat 6 property. I need to change the date. Will I be allowed to do this without being forced to upgrade?

I just tried searching those dates and see most properties have availability for points (looking for a room with 2 adults). A couple that do not are mostly Cat 5 properties. Which 6 properties were you wanting to stay in that did not have availability?

it may be that since I was looking for 4 adults (2 teens, 2 adults) I got limited results. It seems some places allow 4 to a room, some don’t. |
Based on my experience with this Marriott TP, I got the best values with the TPs attached to the best properties. The TPs get the lowest value being un-attached.
For the lucky ones, you can even harvest points from this conversion and not losing any value at all. |
This is so frustrating. I have an OC5 7 night cert. expiring in March. I'm trying to come up with what is best. How are you all using these?? What is the best redemption? I know that is a lower category...now a 4, correct?

Go to China or Vietnam and have a nice vacation there. |

My plan is to find an agent willing enough to let me convert OC5 to NC5 (with a small "upgrade" cost in points). There are some much more appealing properties that are NC5s. |

So most properties that you had in mind when you purchased the Travel Package should still be bookable with your cert. As mentioned here, there are some great redemption opportunities in Asia. Good luck! Oh, and when you call in to get your cert reissued from OC5 to NC4, it should automatically be extended for a year. |

2) Yes, hold off if you want the furthest expiration date. You may convert only one package if you want. That is what I did. I am waiting to convert my other cert so I can get a later expiration date.

One quick question about the expiration date of NCs. Does the stay have to be completed by the expiration date or to be booked by the expiration date?
|
Are we sure that we won’t be able to get these extended further when the expiration date comes? |
Let me know how this goes. I would also like to try that avenue!!!

With limited exceptions, the list of OC5 and the list of NC4 properties are quite similar. A lot of CYs and FIs, particularly in mid-size to large cities in the US. There are some decent properties (Autograph Collections) in lower cost countries, but nothing that will probably blow you away.

However, we do not have data points yet on the NC since they are too new, and I am not aware of Marriott officially saying one way or the other. |
