OK thanks.
I could have sworn that at one point on their crappy website, it had a way to indicate use a cert instead of the points, but maybe I am not remembering correctly...

You can do it online with other certs, like the MegaBonus ones, but I'm pretty sure you have always had to call for the Chase certs. Maybe that will change with the new system in August?

Ugh. I'm not Keith.

I have a reservation using my Chase certificate right now that I booked on the website. If it doesn't work know they definitely took that feature away.

On the mobile site it won't let me book a reservation without enough points. Hoping it's just a mobile limitation and not a harbinger of things to come.

I went today to the desktop site and still unable to book a stay when I don't have enough points. Has Marriott removed this capability completely on the website, or even completely in the program? Or is it just the hotel I'm trying at?

I think the website is pretty poorly designed but ... (a) I've never seen any welcome to a different name other my my own when using Chrome on my PC's, (b) all my stays (9/10) a month are posting within a couple of days.

This happened to me recently and I had to call to set it up. I'm wondering if it was because the stay was going to be less than a month away, even though I expected a credit card points posting within a week or two?

And I'm sure glad I did because the hotel I want to stay at next month is now sold out completely!

pitflyer Jun 24, 2018 1:14 pm

Thanks, I think that makes sense. This stay was for a couple of weeks from now and I remember when I have booked stays further out it says '10 days in advance that Marriott will contact you to find out if you have points'. Looks like the cutoff is about a month -- it will let you book something where you don't have the points later than that point. Probably any sooner you have to convince the agent on the phone to do it.

Sadly, I spent my BOS-SFO flight on UA2400's wifi and my patience.

To wit - what it appears that our Marriott programmers have been doing is forcing the website to be compliant as possible so that they can try to squeeze it through what ever APIs that allow a) usage on smartishphones and b) through partner limited access sites such as on United Airlines when in the air.

Short answer: it works - if you have much patience.

Longer answer: the same bugs/features that we now deal with using the web browser interfaces are now present in the smartishphone version that's compliant with UA's APIs.

Example: as I just posted the link to accessing your lifetime points and nights to the The Race to 2.0MM Points is On! thread, you can go through the same double login process using the smartishphone browser so that the status popup shows. It just takes about a lifetime of waiting given the number of folks on your flight also accessing wifi. I didn't feel like fighting the fight to pull out my laptop, do battle with my seatmates for elbowspace on the arm rests, go through wifi on my laptop to see if there's much difference from a web browser perspective.

Personally, I think this is a bad way to re-engineer an older website to common web and smartishphone interfaces, but who am I to tell Marriott how to spend their precious programmers' time...

Airport codes working again?

On a bright note, searching using IATA airport codes appears to be working again. Something I really missed while it was broken.

It does seem to be back. I have found the best results by typing the airport code followed by the word "airport".

rylan Jun 26, 2018 6:28 am

The airport codes sort of are working, but unfortunately it still goes to the city first if the airport code matches the name of a city... for example, type in BOS or AUS and it gives you results for city instead of the airport.

Ok, now what? I'd been holding a points reservation waiting until I got enough points in my account. They are now there.

I went to my reservation and it said "click here to order your e-certificate", so I did. And it looks like it wants to switch me to a cash reservation, which I most certainly do not want!

How do you apply your newly earned points to an existing pending points reservation?

I've been trying every day or two for a few weeks now with my similar reservation. I'm now 6 days out, and the rez says it will be auto-ordered for me if by 7 days I haven't. And I keep getting the same error message. I'm just going to let things happen naturally at this point, I'm quite curious. This site is total garbage.
