There are balcony rooms that don't face in the proper direction to be able to see the Epcot fireworks. There are also non-balcony rooms that do face the proper direction to see the Epcot fireworks.

Thanks.
It sound like I may have booked a wrong room...

I called the hotel and was told there are 2 types of "Epcot Fireworks" room, balcony rooms and non-balcony rooms.
To distinguish the 2, we need to check the room description or the price.

Before the call, I only checked "non-refundable" fare rooms which had only non-balcony fireworks room and its price was same as "Resort View Balcony Room".

I ended up with booking a balcony fireworks room in "family something fare" category.
In the same category, the balcony fireworks room was priced at $30+ higher than non-balcony fireworks room.

Epcot fireworks doesn't have a balcony?

We will stay from Sun to Tue in mid May with my wife and 5yo kid.
I booked a 5 night stay Resort Room with points for Christmas week 2012. Upon arrival at noon, our room wasn't ready. I asked for the possibility of an upgrade to an Epcot facing room with balcony and I was told that I was probably out of luck. I thanked her and made sure she got a good look at my 3 cute kids. When my room was ready, I couldn't have been happier. It was an Epcot fireworks view room with a balcony on the second to last floor. We watched the fireworks each night from the room (late hours that week). Not all of them have balconies, however. We got lucky.

As a Gold, will they waive the $17 resort fee as my amenity?

I believe that is one of your amenity options.

Cheers,

Yes, that was one of my choices on several visits this year at the Dolphin. Will be checking in at the Swan this afternoon and assume they have the same offer.

As a Platinum, they waive the $17 fee and you get an amenity - points, paddle boats, or continental breakfast for 2 (once per stay, I think). Parking is not free ($15), although I've had them not charge me once.

I've also been upgraded all three times I have stayed on points at the Dolphin, to the "executive" suite. All were short weekend stays (Fri/Sat or Thurs/Fri/Sat).

I was here last year and, as a Plat, the continental brekkie is for each day of your stay. They also have a cheap "upgrade" for the full buffet breakfast in either of their restos in the Dolphin and Swan.

Just checked in at the Swan and the waived resort fee was not one of the checking amenities. FDC said Westin doesn't offer that.

dolphin

I was at the Dolphin 2 weeks ago.
Place was sold out but they still ug to an executive suite.
Arrived very late at night so planned on sleeping in.
7AM jackhammers started over head. Called down to front desk to ask for a move. It took 3 hours to prep a room for me, The Presidential Suite!
2 floors of luxury with different everything from all of their other rooms.
Rather than regular Sheraton soap etc , it was all Elemis products.
Great ug and most appreciated due to rough travel schedule.

I arrive on Sept. 15 for a 5 night stay. I've never stayed here before, so do any of you have any tips for making this stay even better?

I just got back from a stay here last week and they wouldn't waive the resort fee as an amenity option for Golds. 250 points or free drink were the options.

Based on the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/starw...-thread-4.html thread, it was at the Dolphin.
