In summer of 2016, Sheraton did provide a little known paid shuttle to/from Dubrovnik. However, it only runs thrice daily. It is strangely unadvertised and we were the only guests both times we used it.

Uber is pretty easy to get, and reasonably priced, from Dubrovnik yet hit-or-miss from Sheraton. We took shuttle to Dubrovnik and Ubered back which worked very well.

Aware the hotel is not in "Duborvnik". Sounds like I'll be renting a car and checking out the coast!

we've got a car booked, so i'm not super concerned. we want to roam around anyway. i doubt that we'll be able to get an upgrade (i'm SPG platinum) in the middle of july, but any insight into upgrade ability would be appreciated

This hotel is near the beach, not the city.

I am sure it is nice but not a good location.

If you have Hilton points stay at Imperial Palace - wonderful hotel with good lounge steps from Pile gate.

I disagree here. The hilton is a cat 8, Sheraton a cat 2. One is a good value the other isn't. The Sheraton also has a larger pool and resort feel. If the goal is to relax you probably won't be going to downtown Dubrovnik every single day anyways.

If the choices were Le Meridien in Split vs the Sheraton in Dubrovnik, which would people choose? (yes, I realize they're in different parts of Croatia)

For the sake of the hotel? Sheraton is newer. But I got a great upgrade at LeM Split and that made all the difference.

I'd be choosing the hotel based on what I'd want to see rather than the hotel itself; neither are what I'd consider aspirational properties.

i'll be staying at both later this year. when picking a hotel, i don't really look for many "aspirational" qualities. i actually spend as little time as possible in the hotel when i am abroad. i prefer to explore the destination.

I booked 2000 Starpoints + 35USD rate just before the category increase but it's already showing in my SPG app as 3500 Starpoints + 55USD. I have a feeling the hotel will charge me US$55 when I arrive. I hope a print out email confirmation will do the job but I just have a bad feeling.

If that should happen...and I doubt that it will...you should open a complaint file with Corporate Customer Service. 800-328-6242 or [email protected].

Dont worry about that, they will charge you the old rate, but you should keep your original reservation just in case.

I once had charge on my folio that took 30 minutes to figure out what it is for by the whole front desk. It was an additional charge for the increased C&P category but they took it off the bill immediatly.

It's a common display bug with SPG. Has happened every year after a category change, 99% of the time there's no mistake on the cash amount charged.
