As it stands under the new Marriott Bonvoy program (as of August 18, 2018) the discount codes Z31 and TVL are not eligible rates for status or point accrual.

And, when you put Z31 in the rate code box on marriott.com, it only indicates the applicable companies that are eligible to use that rate, for which you must provide an ID. You would think, in 2019, that they could have an additional note when the rate code box pops up that says "This rate will not earn points or stay credit!" but I guess Bonvoy would rather take our money and then tell us later that the stay wasn't eligible for credit.

I'm curious where you specifically saw that "Z31" rates are now excluded from earnings ... my understanding was that TVL rates had been excluded for years (which is why I haven't booked one of those rates in years), but I don't see any disclaimers on Z31 rates. Yes, Z31 is "airline leisure rate" however there's no disclaimer on marriott's own link regarding the program guidelines for that particular Z31 rate. Airline Leisure Program

my company perks used to steer us to the "corporate leisure rate," and the code for that was "XML." I never had problems getting points on the XML rate. Now, the XML rate still exists, but when you click on the rate rules, it lists a bunch of companies that are applicable to the XML rate, and ours is no longer on there. They have steered us to the "Z31" code which also lists a slew of companies but (apparently) doesn't earn anything. I guess Bonvoy can be judge and jury here- but if my corporate leisure rate earned points and nights, and then one day, the rate code changes and now it doesn't anymore, but I'm with the same company, that's pretty scheister-ish of Bonvoy. I'd hope for a bit more transparency from them but so far, the merger has been anything but transparent.
I appealed to them via CS email a second time, claiming the switch from XML to Z31 with no disclaimer that it wouldn't earn credit was lousy, and it was the first time I booked with the Z31 rate code. We shall see what they say. Hilton is looking better and better!

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm finding out the same thing this morning, from a missing stay request 2 weeks ago that I just submitted. It was the first time I used the Z31 rate code.

ANy update and changes on that? Just realized the same that my company was removed from XML and now Z31 has to be used. Being an old SPG guy, I was still used that you could earn under the Airline Associates rate. Needless to say I got an AAA card now, becaus that is actually a better deal for me than not earning nights.... Marriott is really making it hard for me to stick with them....

Has anyone used this rate lately and had luck with points and nights posting? On this landing page on the Marriott site it states:
“Hotels stays are eligible for Marriott Bonvoy™ points and Elite status.”
