Saw an article that this used to be the old headquarters for Banco de Andalucía:

Drago Capital will manage the renovation of the building itself to convert it into a hotel, which will open on the upper floors. It will also create a retail space with approximately 2,000 m2 of gross leasable space on the ground floor and mezzanine level.

Courtyard Yerevan, Armenia

This is under construction in a good location in the city center.

The full-service Marriott on the main square (Republic Square) looks like the grand dame of the city.

I stayed at the Grand Hotel, part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (recently partnered with Hyatt) and it was solid. I was pretty impressed with Yerevan; it's really grim flying in and driving from the airport, but the city center is attractive with lots of seemingly new amenities.

Mods - could we create a wiki at the top of this thread and/or make this thread sticky on the main page? Hilton has a thread for hotels joining/leaving as a sticky, while IHG has one categorized by brand. I've created master lists of upcoming Le Méridien, W, St. Regis, EDITION and Tribute Portfolio openings and would like to put them out for sharing/information.

Thoughts?

Cheers thanks for the wiki.

Imo way too many up coming Ws in Europe.
I'm really missing nice resorts in Europe from Marriott. I hope Marriott can focus a little more on the Europe market. More on the Middle segments and not on the luxury.

The Baymont Inn of Frisco, Summit County, Colorado (Breckenridge) will become a Fairfield sometime this year.

The only sources are me and chatter by hotel employees as mentioned in the local rag, the Summit Daily.

I've been doing some Internet scouring, and found two new Le Méridien properties coming to Asia:
  • Le Méridien Seoul, Myeongdong (2022)
  • Le Méridien Taipei, Banqiao (2024)
The Seoul hotel is being built in the same building as a Moxy, and is going up in place of the former KT Central Branch, close to the Sungnyemun Gate, while the Taipei hotel will occupy the 18th to 31st floors of a new 31 story building in the Banqiao District. The previously announced Le Méridien Seoul, Shinchon, has apparently been cancelled, with an office tower going up on the plot that the hotel was to occupy.

FUTURE OPENINGS

  • REYKJAVIK, ICELAND 2019

Anyone know what's going on here? The Coming Soon page now says 2020. Reservations shows a Courtyard Reykjavik Keflavik Airport opening "January 2020" which is, umm, now.

Anyone know anything about either? Hotels this summer only show one available for points, and it's quite high. Cash prices are high for the others.

Four Points Lexington, KY has (finally) been deflagged. Converted to a Quality Inn a couple of weeks ago, coincidentally at the same time the new City Center Marriott and Courtyard Marriott opened downtown. This always had the potential to be a really nice property, but it appears that the owners were sucking all the profits out in order to build a bunch of Holiday Inn Expresses in the suburbs.

Good. I had a stay there in 2015 that was just awful. It was far and away the worst SPG property I'd ever stayed at and I think it'll be a much better fit as a Quality Inn.

Delta Chicago North Shore Suites will be rebranding to Renaissance.

The Wagner Hotel at the Battery Park in NYC will be rebranding in the coming weeks. It looks like it might become a member of the Luxury Collection brand. Any thoughts?

A new Hotel has popped up in Orlando, the Celeste Hotel located on the campus of the University of Central Florida, opening in July and part of the Tribute Portfolio brand.

Interesting - this one used to be The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park. Already online - property code is NYCLB.

Delayed! Web site now says April 2020. However, you can't make any booking no matter the dates.
If you are a Hilton fan, try Nordica.
