Classic 1980s capitalism from Marriott: Make both your customers and their consumers hate you.

Of course we have to take everything in the article at face value. It sounds like a property with an axe to grind and in such situations they're not always entirely honest.

Does anybody have an email for<!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa? My flight schedule was impacted by Coronavirus and want to give the local team a heads up I won't be checking in when I planned.

Have you tried using the APP to message the property?

Phuket Suggestions

Does anyone have any good suggestions for the hotels in Phuket right now? I have Titanium status and looking to do a week in Phuket, but can't decide which property has good benefits or has a good resort vibe. The prices have dropped a lot in Phuket and would appreciate if anyone has any recommendations.

IMHO there are only two hotels in Phuket I can completely recommend, the new Four Points Phuket Patong (Pool Access Suite) and the re-opened JW Marriott Khao Lak. Maybe the Le Meridien Khao Lak. All other hotels are mediocre at best. YMMV

I just spent a week at LM Khao Lak. Nice... especially if you can get the all inclusive rate & a pool access suite or pool villa. Its not Phuket though, in fact its not even "on island". It's at least an 60/90 minute drive form Phuket (as is the JW) depending where you want to be on the island itself.

Unless you have a strong reason to burn points or accrue elite nights, Phuket is a good place to go off-program and stay at an independent property.

Dangerous move because you never know what starndards (if any) an independent has here in Thailand.

Oh please. What a ridiculous comment. There's nothing "dangerous" about it. As if a Marriott were somehow "safer."

Personally I'm a big fan of the Surin Phuket, but there are many other good options.

I hardly think a Four Points is going to be safer than staying at Trisara, or an Aman...

Aman or in the case of Phuket Amanpuri is hardly an independent property.

You have certain brand standards that a chain hotel has to provide, so yes from a perspective of knowing what you can expect it's definitely safer.

And you have a contact point to rectify potential issues. A local hotel owner will take you to f off and that's the end of it.
