The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services
The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee
Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.
Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.
Platinums receive:
* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)
* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points
* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.
* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area
* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.

The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.
The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.
The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".
If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.
And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.
If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).
If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.
Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

Well, I had an interesting experience (to say the least) here about 2 weeks ago. I checked in and I was confirmed in a wraparound terrace suite as it was a really good rate during the week (something like $219 for the wraparound and $149 for the regular rooms). They gave me the option of the points, amenity (a bucket of popcorn!?), or Wicked Spoon Breakfast. I took the breakfast and it was quite good.
Got up to my wraparound terrace suite in the West Tower- beautiful room, but smelled terribly of smoke even though the hotel is supposedly all non-smoking.
I called to complain and they stated they would send someone up to use a special "ozone" cleaner to rid the smell. I was skeptical, but told them I was going to dinner and to please take care of this while I was gone.
Returning about 2 hours later to my room and the key to my room did not work. Had to call security who came about 15 minutes later and, after showing my id, let me in the room. Well, not only had they not done the "ozone" thing, but SOMEONE ELSE'S bags were in my room in the living area and they had their unpacked suitcase right next to mine in the room! They had also unpacked all of their belongings into the bathroom.
Fortunately security was still with me and she was pretty shocked. Also fortunately none of my bags which included my laptop and iPad had been touched.
This made me ask 2 questions:
1. How did they allow someone else to check into my room after checking in 3 hours earlier?
2. How did the people who checked into my room and saw my luggage not do anything about this?
Needless to say I was upset. Went to the front desk (after double-checking my bags) which was a long walk from the West Tower to reception, where the manager apologized profusely, moved me to a different room (WITHOUT a view of the fountains that I originally had), offered to move me the next night to a fountain view (evidently they were sold out of the wraparound fountain views), comped me the night and gave me $250 in food & beverage credit.
I think they handled a very embarrassing situation fairly well, but not sure I'd go back again after that bizarre incident.

I will be staying there on Friday for 4 nights...will provide a review shortly after my stay. This will be my 5th stay here and I have loved it ever since!

Just completed another stay at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and can provide some feedback on Platinum benefits and changes.
Had booked a suite with 2 queen beds arriving Sunday, departing Tuesday over labor day weekend. Upon arrival, was informed I could check in at the Platinum VIP lounge which is on the right of the main lobby reception area. The VIP room on the left of the reception desks is for Identiy Platinum and the one on the right is for Marriott Platinums.
I was told I had been upgraded to a larger wrap around suite with a view and was given a welcome letter listing all the benefits.
- complimentary coffee and juice daily in the Identiy Suite, West Tower Suite 1637. Not really a lounge just a suite transformed into a very small lounge. I went there in the morning for juice and in the evening for a cocktail. It does state on the welcome letter it is only available from 6am to 9am but the door was open all the time and nobody asked for my room key or Platinum card.
- Complimentary one level room upgrade - received it at check in
- Platinum check in - mentioned above
Choice of one of the following:
- Brekfast for 2 at the Wicked Spoon Buffet
- 500 Marriott Points
- Welcome Amenity (cookies)
Of course I took the breakfast buffet (open from 8 am to 2pm) and as always it was great. You can also bypass the line and use the VIP lane (any day).
- Complimentary internet access
- Limousine upgrade when booking a sedan to or from the airport
- Extended check out - 2pm.
One change I noticed on the letter is that you only earn points for room charges and anything spent in your room (movies, minibar, room service) and you DO NOT earn points on anything spent outside of the rooms. My points haven't posted yet so I will be able to confirm that and if there is any way around it once they do.
I really enjoy staying at the Cosmopolitan, great hotel, great rooms, gread service. We had an incident during our stay which demonstrated the level of professionalism of the hotel. The friend who was there with me decided to have some spa trreatments and had an allergic reaction to it (don't ask me how), her arms were bright red and covered with blisters and a rash... she of course got her money back, they had to call the spa manager and security to write a report, profusely apologized and asked repetedly if she wanted them to call paramedic but my friend refused. After a few hours and a number of ice packs the blisters when away. The spa manager and a hotel supervisor came to apologize to her and we got a call from the Hotel's General Manager apologizing for what happened and asked if there was anything she could do for us during our stay. We were about to head to the pool and she offered us a cabana at no charge with no spent minimum (usually a $450 minimum), we of course took her offer and had a great time and lots of personal attention from the pool staff.
Overall, great hotel in Vegas, still one of the best in my opinion and you get Platinum benefits and earn points while staying on the strip.

One change I noticed on the letter is that you only earn points for room charges and anything spent in your room (movies, minibar, room service) and you DO NOT earn points on anything spent outside of the rooms. My points haven't posted yet so I will be able to confirm that and if there is any way around it once they do.
I really enjoy staying at the Cosmopolitan, great hotel, great rooms, gread service. We had an incident during our stay which demonstrated the level of professionalism of the hotel. The friend who was there with me decided to have some spa trreatments and had an allergic reaction to it (don't ask me how), her arms were bright red and covered with blisters and a rash... she of course got her money back, they had to call the spa manager and security to write a report, profusely apologized and asked repetedly if she wanted them to call paramedic but my friend refused. After a few hours and a number of ice packs the blisters when away. The spa manager and a hotel supervisor came to apologize to her and we got a call from the Hotel's General Manager apologizing for what happened and asked if there was anything she could do for us during our stay. We were about to head to the pool and she offered us a cabana at no charge with no spent minimum (usually a $450 minimum), we of course took her offer and had a great time and lots of personal attention from the pool staff.
Overall, great hotel in Vegas, still one of the best in my opinion and you get Platinum benefits and earn points while staying on the strip.

Not at the plat desk but I was offered a cash-up of $50 a night from a standard room to a wrap around suite as a Gold last labor day. Any way you cut it that's a superb deal. Didn't know what to do with all that space though.
