I will expand on this review later on, but my summary is that this property is now in my top 5 list of Starwood properties. I can't wait to return.
This is the new generation of Luxury Collection properties and I really liked it.
TIP: Getting there is not easy, but not that hard if you do some prep. The resort is not branded The Romanos or Westin on signage heading towards it, follow the signs for "Navarino Dunes" that begin as far away as Kalamata. Even the entrance of the resort only has a Westin logo facing a side away from the entrance so you think you're arriving at a golf resort or some kind of housing development. It's the Romanos/Westin. Just look for "Navarino Dunes".
- It's new, no expense spared in the design & construction. Absolutely stunning in terms of location, detail, layout, etc.
- I'd call the decor contemporary yet embracive of the surroundings and natural environment. I wish it was a longer stay to take in the tour of the things they do for the environment, what they grow on-site, etc.
- The place is huge, but you don't feel like it.
- Generally helpful service, you know it's hard when everyone is seasonal
- There were about 20 restaurants, we ate at 2 and loved the concepts and variety of offerings.
- Plats should go for the breakfast: it's served in Pero and a full buffet with lots of options. We found it very very busy (there was a conference going on), but the staff seemed to be doing a great job keeping up with refreshing the buffets, clearing tables and bringing beverages. This is Greece, so no drama. Pero is a HUGE restaurant, but you don't feel it by the way its broken up inside and outside. The food was great quality and included Greek, American British and Asian items. Some interesting presentations of it all, including a melting honey comb and fresh herbs used as decor and garnish.
- Not overrun with tacky Americans demanding compensation over minor details.
- Lots of facilities for families, but because it is so upscale and set up with different environments we never felt over-run with kids.
- They have their own beach with chairs, umbrellas, etc. at no extra charge. There are little buttons on the umbrellas to call for a waiter so you can order beverages and light food. We found the service good, but ice was scarce do as our waiter said the machine "made a lot of noise, but not a lot of ice". There is also a restaurant at the beach with a really cool 'wave' shade device.
- No charge for parking.
- It's a 4+ hour drive from Athens, so not likely to attract a lot of Americans but those who make the effort will be well rewarded.
- Nearby town of Pylos has a little boardwalk with cafes, restaurants as well as a few stores for basics if you want to venture outside of the resort.

Westin Resort and The Romanos, Costa Navarino, Greece [Master Thread]
Personally I would recommend staying for 4-5 nights in order to explore all the resort has to offer. If you are a golfer the courses are fantastic. We stayed a week and rented a house for another week.
There are some really wonderful beaches south of the hotel. When you exit property turn right onto main road and right again after 10 meters. Any of these small roads will bring you to beautiful bays with a taverna or beach bar. But overall it's nowhere crowded and generally very peaceful. Hard to find elsehwere in July/August !

SPG Breakfast Plus rate
Hi all,
I am planning to book a couple of nights at the Romanos for the end of August. I have been playing around with the rate options on spg.com and notice the SPG Breakfast Plus rate. It is basically the same price as the pre-paid rate and includes continental breakfast according to the terms I can see in different websites. The main difference is that it allows for some flexibility, in case my plans change.
My question is: are there any different options for the breakfast and if so, how are they enforced? If there is some difference, and the pre-paid rate allows full choice of breakfast, that will be absolutely fine with me. But if I can have some additional flexibility, why not?
Any feedback on the precise terms by StarwoodCostaNavarino will be greatly appreciated!

Dear sihctr,
Thank you for addressing your query.
We are pleased to confirm that our breakfast option is Full Buffet Breakfast in any of the above mentioned room rates. We do not have a limitation or separation of continental / full buffet etc. The only breakfast that in any case would not be inclusive, is if you would order Room Service, which would be charged as normal and according to your choices.
Hope that helps you out to your decision? Should you require anything further please let us know.
Best regards,
Starwood Costa Navarino Team.

Usually, we bring the golf bags with us, but we want to go other islands, too and it is not convenient to carry the bags if we play only one or two rounds there.
Costa Navarino is one of my MUST STAY list near future.

Do you know if we do not bring our golf bags with us, how much is the rental club there?

Best deal is to play the guest competition on Saturdays. EUR 65 all in (greenfee, buggy, remtals).

Good morning everyone and apologies for the late reply on Tak's question.
Reference the club rental for golf, kindly note that the price to rent clubs(including the bag) is 40 euro for 18 holes and 20 euro for 9 holes. You may find additional details on the following link:
http://www.westincostanavarino.com/en/golf under "download golf price list".

Mosquitos
Dear All,
does anyone has any information on an eventual mosquito issue happening recently at the resort?
I'm scheduled to be there in few days but read some really allerting review on a massive mosquito issue. Having children, I'm almost to panic :-)
Thanks anyone for any eventual reply/support on the subject.

Mosquito
Dear Daddy,
Thank you for your concern and question. We do agree that mosquitoes could sometimes create issues.
Knowing the situation and the fact that in a complete "green" area as Costa Navarino - full of olive groves and other flora - is very likely to have their presence, we have received the municipality support to resolve this. The area has been sprayed to minimize mosquitoes and since then it is much better. Nonetheless the resort uses citronella candles in key areas at night. We also have mosquito wipes and sprays for guests to use, mosquito nets in the rooms outside the balcony door, pharmacy in the resort operating 7 days a week etc. The issue is mainly between half eight and nine pm however we assure you that it is very much under control.
Hope you have an enjoyable stay.
