Again, they would NOT do it for me. I asked and they forwarded on the request but she said there is no way she can do it and they cannot even do the security hold! I thought I had one on my UAL Visa but did not. And so now I wait for the form letter that will probably say they cannot do it! I explained my reasoning based on "gift cards for stores and other merchants" online that usually come in as purchases, but now some of the companies that usually pay the cost of acceptiing credit cards from customers are siliently changing terms and passing these costs over so that we get hit with fees! An example could be that you buy something like a store gift card (I did not mention the VBx cards) every week and then one day you buy one thinking it is a purchase and then you go away for a week on vacation and come home to find you have been unknowingly hit with huge finance charges and fees! I asked the CSR to tell me if Visa WANTS me to have these fees, and therefore there SHOULD be a way for me, the customer of this card, to avoid them from now. She repeated that she can only request I have my limit set to Zero, but nothing more.

Does not look good. That means I either continue to risk it when using my UAL Visa to buy my Wachovia cards (have not yet had any CA problems) or I stop using it all together.

If anyone else has success or any further info, do tell.

I have one question for the person who started buying US Bank VBx cards with your Citi MC: Did you get the $load fee for loading your VisaBuxx on your MC? I know you would not have had you used your US Bank WP Visa, but they were charging you CA fees whereas you say that Citi was treating it as a purchase.

Do tell.

Thanks!

I use united mileage plus visa to load both USBank and BofA vussabixx cards.

On june 29 and 30, the loads from US bank posted as cash advances. On July 1, the BofA loads posted as purchases.
Either there was a system glich on these two days for USBank, ther T&Cs changed on April 2, and they have had issues with load fees. Perhaps this is another one of those things, but I have to wait a few days, as I had to pay off a large balance way before it was due to avoid finance charges on the cash advances. Until my statement closes next week, I would rather not do any more loads with USBank and start with a clean slate next week, so to speak.

If anyone had their USBank load post as cash advance after june 30, please post, so we may know whether this is over for USBank.

It may soon be over for BofA as well, as they have stopped issuing new cards and that may just be the beginning of the end

Now have to go find some other deal

Without giving too much away, there are several reasons why I am pleasantly surprised how the transaction is currently being handled!

hmmm,
such is the case for my Wachovia and UAL visa... so far. (and despite above concerns on possible CA fees)

Let just post the transactions with source CC and which VBuxx that do not work.... Let's not ruin it by posting exactly what does work.... ... US Bank seems to be the key here.

Either way, we need to figure out and deal with the changes. My Wachovias have FINALLY started to bill me the $2 fee for using a non-Wachovia CC. I have never gotten one but my last load was my first and only one in July and it seems they have now worked out some kinks. Here are the transactions on my UAL Visa leading up to that date. Seems like all VBx cards are changing now, and the $2 fee shows up in my latest (top) transaction. Oh well, I guess it was inevitable, but it's now less mile-able for my needs/costs:

Trans Date Post Date Type Description (Merchant Category) Amount

07/08/2005 07/10/2005 Sale WACHOVIA BUXX CARD (Services and Merchandise) $502.00

07/05/2005 07/07/2005 All THE HOME DEPOT 2667 (Other) $212.21

06/30/2005 07/01/2005 Sale WACHOVIA BUXX CARD (Services and Merchandise) $500.00

06/28/2005 06/30/2005 Sale WACHOVIA BUXX CARD (Services and Merchandise) $500.00

Has anybody else called US Bank and asked them about this? I called last week and the CS rep claimed that my credit card was the one putting it through as a CA, which I think is incorrect. Don't the merchants decide what's a CA and a purchase?
And my BofA VBx loads are still going through as purchases.

it is incorrect. CC CSRs will try to tell you that and yet, it IS the merchant who chose it. Call them directly. Push hard and wait for a supervisor's supervisor. Screw it. What have you got to lose to find out by asking?

Next time I get them I may just have to order on my Citi MC which does have a ZERO limit.

I have a US Bank issued Visa Buxx card, and am using my Citi Aadvantage Biz card to load. My latest load, on 7/6, posted as a sale:

07/06/2005 07/08/2005 MINNEAPOLIS,MN US BANK VISABUXX CARD 500.00

I'm going to do another load right now and will report back if it posts as a cash advance.

Looks like it was a system glitch

I talked to customer service at USBank VB and they say that it was a system glitch around (or before) July 1, which has been rectified now. To give credit for the CA fees, they need a copy of the CC statement. I haven't reloaded my card yet but will post here once I have done that.

Sounds like good news. You must have gotten a CSR more competent than I did. I just called again and asked about it and neither she nor her manager were aware of any changes in the way they run charges, but that they would call me back with a better answer later.

I just reloaded my VB card with USBank worldperks card - it got authorized as a standard purchase.
