What's the best way to cash out the Wachovia VBx?

shaws supermarket money orders or walmart ones. those are 25cents and can use pin. worked for me. had no wachovia and just got it and so it worked one time of one time tried.

Maybe it's geographical? Is PLUS an east-coast thing?

yes it is I think, and I have had success with the above as well.
Sorry for the late reply and thanks again for that ING referral! That was very kind and thoughtful of you...

With Wachovia soon to go up to $2 a whack, I am wondering if I should even keep it on as my card of choice. I still have the US Bank VBx card and the US Bank NWA WorldPerks Visa. So maybe I will end Wachovia if, after a first try in mid May, the fees do in fact show up. I got my letter--or should I say my wife did (I am obviously the teen :D ) and it says these new changes take effect May 15. That means I got like one more set of free loads for the card and then I have to rethink it if they charge me next time I attempt it.

So that brings me to this, which may help all of you out there using the US Bank Vbx (see next post):

I posted this little NWA find in the NWA forum. But here's the link:

do this with your NWA visa and get 1500 more miles! Easy for us GC users...

The Wachovia Vbuxx loading to online casinos appears to be dead. Wachovia is now charging 1% of the charge for out of country transactions (which online casinos fall under). This of course makes it not such a good value for miles. :td: :td: :td:

FYI - USBank Visabuxx closed all my accounts with them a couple months ago. They never called me - just sent me a notice the accounts would be closed because I was using them for rewards benefits - not as intended. I had earned a couple hundred thousand miles from them already over the last couple years.

you seemed to have gotten your fill. I wish I knew about them a few years ago but have done well since I have used them. No fees with the NWA visa card and to keep them liking me, I simply charge up one or two small items each time I load and then cash out. For example, I load the $1500 and then go buy a slice of pizza or something at the drug store like a pack of gum. Then I go cash it out. Done. Wait 30 days and do it again!

No probs there.

Wachovia, although I am not sure if this will ever change, has been exactly the same way for me and I have never gotten any fee from them when charging up with my UAL visa.

Re: US Bank Visa Buxx -- I've been in the habit of only loading $500 at a time (3x a month). Have you had success loading $1,500 all at once -- as long as you wait 30 days from the previous loading?

This could potentially eliminate some of the $2 loading fees that they charge off and on.

MeLike2Travel May 17, 2005 2:41 pm

I have not been allowed to load more than $500 during a single transaction, but have had no problems doing 4 x $500 loads every 30 days for the past 6 months or so. Before that I was only able to do 3 x $500 loads. I tried doing 4 about 6 months ago and to my surprise it allowed it. However, I have to do $1,500 in ATM withdrawls and then come back 1 week later to w/d the remaining $500. Don't know why that is, but I'll take it. I can't tell you how many miles I've gotten from this. I have 4 cards in my name, and 4 in my wife's. So I'm doing 16,000 AA miles/month. Not only that, but I put the money (for the short period of time that I have it) into a BankDirect checking account which gives me AA miles. I'm getting another 1,500 miles or so from that.

It scares me to read that someone had their account closed because US Bank said they were just doing it for the rewards, because that's obviously the only reason I'm doing it.

wanaflyforless, did you try to argue against them closing it? I suppose they have the right, but at the same time there's nothing in their T&Cs that would preclude us from doing this. I would be very sad if my accounts were closed....it's been a fun ride.

I have not researched, nor have I tried to get more than just one USBank VBx card. Can you? Gee. I have been slow.

Anyway, I have only one and I load 500, then 500 then 500 in the same day. Then I cash out later but only after doing one or two small transactions in a day or so. I do not cash out in the same day. I think putting the money into BankDirect is a good idea--while waiting to pay back the CC--because then you keep that balance up! I use ING a lot too because interest adds up too.

I have heard of and even run into a bunch of cases where, for whataver reason, one of these gift card companies just cancels someone. They do it and then wont hear any reasoning. they all say it is a fraud thing or that "we do it differently than other companies, sir" but they are all the same. Once they "have your number" and think you are up to something, they change the terms on you or on the masses. They do this and then even if you argue with them and are right about everything, you are already marked and they figure you are too savvy or too hostile a customer to want to do business with them. Either way, no matter what happens, you aint able to do biz with them anymore nor might you want to. Some fights are worth it but this one never ends. They basically realize you found a hole and even if it was not just you, that's how they think. SO be it. It is wrong on their part but they have the money and the cards.

Does anybody know if Bank of America CCs earn miles for loading the BofA VBuxx? I've been using my UA visa for the loads but am looking to switch over to my BofA AS visa.

In any of the combinations that you have set up, are you both the "parent" and the "child"? I would like to set myself up as the "child", but I didn't think this was possible since US Bank asks for SSN's on both the parent and the child.

Make your wife, GF, SO, or maybe even your Mom or Dad the Parent. :)

MeLike2Travel May 18, 2005 1:48 pm

That's exactly how I did it. 4 cards have me as the parent and my wife as the child. The other 4 have her listed as parent and me listed as child.
