Sure it's paying the credit card with the credit card but it gives as Marathon Man says nearly 1000 miles for 0.75$ and that is for about 10 minutes work (loading each week) a good return.

it's funny it lets you do that--I had actually thought not to try it in case this raised a flag, and yet I have never been one to worry about such things... Therefore, in order to save 25cents on MOs maybe I will do that too next time I cash it out!
Do you think it may be wise tio pay a different CC than the one you loaded it with or does it not really care? All other similar GC gigs I have ever done are workable and decent in part because there are so many institutions through which your funds travel in order to get them back to the CC you owe money to. It still takes little effort once set up (online, etc) but I have never done just ONE to ONE. The closest I ever came was back in the day of BofA and the USPS... That died eventually but was also much bigger.

Just to be safe, maybe I should try to pay a second CC with these funds. Who knows. But if it lets me, then that's too cool!

Try paying a visa debit card. Then transfer the cash via online payment to the CC if you're worried.

It's actualy using STAR Bill Payment Service

They actualy use the STAR Bill Payment Service .

I paid back to the loading credit card without a problem, just leave some period of time in there and as you are possibliy mixing sources anyhow there should not be a problem.

I usualy use my BoA Visa to load and than put over to my Citi and on the 2nd card I do the opposite but I did also several times paid back to the source I used for the funds.

I never did it right after I loaded and I would not recommend that.

sven60035 Feb 19, 2005 3:18 am

That's not possible

FNBM card will not allow you to do that, they do a hell of a lot bills but not transfer to a Visa debit card.

Do we know if First National Bank of Marin considered Monday, Feb 21 a holliday in terms of number of days or biz days til you can do your next reload? They say 7 days or 5 biz days but who knows...

I think it is a holiday for them since they do banking, but anyone have any thoughts on this one?

Thanks!

MM,
What's the best way to cash out the Wachovia VBx?

Does your Wachovia card use the PLUS atm/debit system? That's what mine is on and I was unable to use it for PIN purchases at the local supermarket. Or is WalMart on the PLUS system?

I'm in Portland, OR. I tried using it at a Fred Meyer supermarket for a small purchase (standard debit purchase) and it came across as "not approved". That's where I normally get my MOs for BofA Vbx and that card works fine. However, BofA is on the Interlink system. I called Wachovia CS and the woman said that you can only use it as a PIN-based transaction if the place of purchase is on the same system (PLUS). So I guess Fred Meyer is not. But if it worked for you at WalMart, then they must be on it. Which means I can try there.

Maybe someone else has used the Wachovia at WalMart or the Post office. Anyone else know if it works there for MO purchases?

maybe some walmarts in some parts of the US are on different systems.
That's weird though, as most PIN gigs do not care from what bank it is, etc.

As for swiping and getting a not approved, I do wish to note that if you do it twice and it fails then you shoudl not try a third time as this may temporarily freeze your pin. Then you have to call Wachovia CS and they start charging you for phone calls to CS once you do so many. When I had my double auth issue last week, they charged me 50cents. I will dispute it but I cannot call --I think til statement cuts or til march 1st. Huh.

Well, they gitcha!
we get miles in return.

Lil' update on the FNBM platinum card...

wasn't sure as to whether 5 or only 4 biz days went by and if they did it by 7 calendar days or 5 biz days when thinking about having to wait ONE WEEK in order to try to load my next $250 to this card.

Went online yesterday and did successfully load $100 in try #1.

Tried a second time and got denied. Weird, because my same actions worked last week, but not this week online. It said the card info was wrong, so I double checked and tried again only to have it say that security lock out thing again. So I called CS. Long hold time but they were nice. They said the first charge was fine and the second one was put on a "pre-noted" status meaning that it did not go thru and did not get denied, but would also not get posted. CSR said this is like a temp auth and should drop off soon. I should be able to try to load $100 more the next day, she said. Then she said 2/21 WAS a holiday for them and so I should not have been able to load that first $100 anyway, but it went thru so I was lucky. I then figured I could do the other $150 today.

So today I tried to reload and was shocked to see NO way to add funds with a CC anymore when on their site!!

WHAT??!!!

I decided to call again. I was going to moan and groan about this but I found out all was well...

Long hold time, but nice CSR told me you still could and we decided to try $50 over the phone. It went thru. She said I could try that other $100 and maybe try today or tomorrow. I closed the internet and started it up again thinking this may help refresh the page, but it is STILL not there. CSR told me it should be there. But it is not. I asked her to tell the company's IT dept about it and she agreed to doing this.

I just checked again, and there is nothing on the screen about loading with a CC. Now I guess til they fix something, you gotta call up to load. That's fine. Initial hold times are very short. It's only when you ask a question that it goes long...

I will therefore call in the AM to load my last $100 for the week. I have only $500 on this thing right now, so I have a long way to go before I can cash it out and consider it worthy. I was thinking of getting close to 2k and then cashing out, and then starting over (see previous posts on the subject).

Anyone else have anything to add? How's the FNBM card working out for you?

Anyone used the Visa Buxx at FRA?

I am trying to figure if I should get one of these. Anyone used these to pay for stuff at FRA airport? Things like coffee, restaurants, etc. Do they accept it anywhere Visa is accepted?

It is a visa, so yes.

Marathon Man Feb 25, 2005 11:21 am

weird day at FNBM!

their site no longer shows teh ability to load from CC online (but yesterday I could still do it over the tel) and today, you cannot even call them! No matter how you slice it, it hangs up when being transferred to anyone!

weird. Is this a run on the bank or what?

I will try back later but...
