Cards purchased online are still draining for the full $500.

Just curious what the benefit is in purchasing vgc's at Walmart. Are there cards that earn 5% CB for Walmart purchases? I purchase the $500 vgc's at drugstores to earn 5% CB on my Amex OBC card and quarterly 5% promos for Citi, Chase, and Discover cards for drugstores. Used to purchase $500 vgc for the grocery 5% CB at Kroger but don't anymore since the BHN cards don't work anymore at Walmart. So now I am limited to purchasing at CVS and Walgreens to earn 5% CB on drugstores.
I really hate the high fees on the VGCs sold at CVS. $8.95 is outrageous
Those fees are now on the cards sold at Stop & Shop.
The closest you can get to 5% in-store at Walmart is with the US Bank Shopper Cash Rewards credit card.
4.41% after the $95 annual fee.
You get 6% up to $1500 spend per quarter.

Yes, Walmart's fees are lower and I hate the $7.95 fees that I pay at CVS and Walgreens, but I don't see any point in purchasing cards unless I am earning 5% or close to it. Earning 2% or even 3% is just not worth the time and trouble for me.

If you get 5% on the full $507.95, that is $25.3975
$25.3975 - $7.95 = $17.4475 net ; $17.4475 $500 = 3.4895%
If you get 3% on the full $507.95, that is $15.2385
$15.2385 - $7.95 = $7.2885 net ; $7.2885 $500 = 1.4577%
I seem to recall Speedway sells VGCs.

Looks like the highest denomination physical ones is $250.
They charge both shipping and activation fees. Didn't you see that?

Thanks. Are there any places online to purchase $500 gift cards that work for purchasing MO's at Walmart?

debit not avail, card on hold
Looks like they definitely changed something within the past few weeks. I tried $470 and $450 loads, still getting denied at second and even at first card load. I'm tempted to go as slow as $250 at this point. Anyone tried this yet?

What kind of card is this, and where/how are you trying to drain it? Hard to offer advice or even understand your DP without those details.

Now I'm down to 1 card (MC) for $498. Any second swipe of a VGC/MC will cause the card to lock up and need to be replaced.
Also there seems to be a cooldown period. If someone before me swipes a VGC/MC, my card will lockup. To avoid this I try to be first at the money center when they open.

I've come across two 7-Elevens in my area (NJ) selling Incomm MGCGs (BIN 525362) for $5.95. This is excellent news for me, since I MS gas heavily and I know these cards load to BB at FD (VGC 409758s haven't worked for me at FD for over six months now).
I bought one as a test and was able to immediately load it for the full amount to my ONE card at SCO (still on the temp card).
Bad news is one of the stores also had SSVGCs at $5.95, so it looks like fees at 7-Eleven (and probably Speedways as well) are going up.

With the caveat that things seem to change daily and by location - yep, that's my normal approach, plus don't swipe another card at the same store for at least 10 minutes. And (I'm still working on this) don't swipe the original card at ANY WM too soon. "Too soon" is at least 30 minutes, but since mine have all locked up at that time, I don't know at what point it's okay. I hope to see additional DPs.
