You cannot load cards at SCO. You must do it at a cashier or at the service desk.

The temporary One cards can be loaded at SCO. For this reason it's in your best interest to keep your temp card alive as long as possible, once your permanent card is activated the temp card is no longer usable.

Your temp card is very restricted in all activities and once you are sent the permanent card, One expects it to be registered pretty fast.

I cannot imagine a faster way to get your One account shuttered than to keep using a temp card once your permanent card has been sent to you.

Yes...the tip is avoid that cashier and try another cashier. If several cashiers say the same thing...then they have all been trained to refer you to the service desk for these type of transactions. Nothing you can do about it.

what does a suspension look like?

I had a weird incident today, went to WM to load it, type my phone #, confirmed the $800 load, but then cashier suddenly says it can't be completed. I did light MS on this from the start, and haven't done any loads in 2 months, only did some light spending on it. I didn't get any messages from them, and was able to use at checkout later in WM.

I wonder if my phone # is banned by WM, since it does block MO purchases. Maybe they ban numbers after a certain amount of MS activity per month.

Surprised you have to give a # to load a card, maybe try another WM in your area and see if they request phone/ID? One of my local WMs has many posted signs at the MC saying "ID Required for all transactions." No ID or phone # needed to load cards there however.

They've only asked for phone # for QR code load of ONE and for MO....and of course for bill-pay. The Discover loads are easier and no ID or # required.

I can always give out one of my fake #s later and see if that makes a difference.

Bar code load needs ID info and there are some hidden limits on loads within 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days. Maybe 5k/7 days, 10k/30 days? Better avoid it.

Will agree with the above. I load $200 VGCs at the cashier to One without any ID being needed, but in truth, do this infrequently.

I value the account.

It was bound to happen given the 50 point rate cut. Just wait until Nov and Dec and you will be even sadder.

Dang! I was actually going to move additional funds into the account. I'm earning 4.93% on my money market, so no need to do so.

MMs are not demand deposit accounts. You can technically write a check for the entire amount of your One account and they have to pay out. Unless you are willing to lose the interest (and maybe even pay a penalty), your money in that MM account is tied up for the term of that account.
It's easier to pay more interest when you know that the money backing it up isn't going anywhere
