I had a weird incident today, went to WM to load it, type my phone #, confirmed the $800 load, but then cashier suddenly says it can't be completed. I did light MS on this from the start, and haven't done any loads in 2 months, only did some light spending on it. I didn't get any messages from them, and was able to use at checkout later in WM.
I wonder if my phone # is banned by WM, since it does block MO purchases. Maybe they ban numbers after a certain amount of MS activity per month.
Surprised you have to give a # to load a card, maybe try another WM in your area and see if they request phone/ID? One of my local WMs has
many posted signs at the MC saying "ID Required for all transactions." No ID or phone # needed to load cards there however.
