Has anyone done that, and if so, do you do it with Chase or just in the Dell purchase form under billing address? Doesn't the billing address you give Dell have to match what Chase has on record in order for the CC transaction to be approved?

The shipping address and billing address don't have to match. Dell cancels orders if they suspect it is going to a reseller before they submit the charge.

Never with Dell. I basically stick to Amazon and if there's an oddball store then I'll try those with some success. All others cancel, not worth the hassle.

Very new to buying groups. Is there any trick for costco order to ship. First order cancelled already 3 times to 3 different shipping addresses.

Similar here. I had a high success rate with BestBuy and Dell before but not anymore. Now, all my orders from BB and Dell are canceled. Amazon is the easiest one. Walmart is also OK even though they sometimes cancel the orders. Sams Club canceled my ordered many times, and I have only successfully placed one order so far with Sams Club.

Dell used to work so well for me, but not anymore.
Anybody know if it could be possible to order to a random address in the same city/area and then, once the order has shipped, redirect it to the buying group's address?

Dell is pretty terrible even if you’re not ordering for the group. Dell can’t tell the difference between two different people at the same address and assumes they’re all one person. And almost no one you can contact can fix the issue because they outsource everything so no one is empowered to do anything besides sell you a warranty that you don’t want.

Outsourced to where?

So part of the reason orders get cancelled is the credit card billing address being different from shipping address. What if you registered a Simon Gift card to the Deleware, New Hampshire, or Oregon warehouse address and used that to pay? The deal buyer actually listed that tip in their FAQs. Has anyone tried it and what's the risk?

This question is similar to the one just above, and it has been asked before but I didn't see an answer.
For instance, TBD says in Q&A: "Switch your billing address to Oregon and you will have better luck getting orders through.".
Does it mean I should switch my billing address in my CC account, or the CC can work if I use the Oregon billing address only when checking out?

I wonder what one has to lose if he just changes his billing address to the buyer's address for a given CC. If the statements are electronic and the card is not expiring soon, there is no risk. Has anyone tried that?

The address will end up on your credit report, LexisNexis, etc so I wouldn't recommend this. As far as Dell is concerned you should be able to order over the phone as long as you don't get greedy (ordering more than a couple units at a time). If you have an alternate phone number, use that when you call as it drives account referencing along with email, which should go without saying. The biggest drawback here is that you can't use portals which significantly reduces your return, especially with Dell who regularly pays out 4% and can go up to 11% in my experience.

You can try using a Paypal Key card number; you can set whatever billing address you want for that. I have had some success with this.

So, do you mean that when ordering over the phone, the orders from BB and Dell will NOT be canceled? That would be a great way if it does work. Also, when ordering over the phone, will you talk to a real person or a robust? Thanks!

I can’t speak for BB but I did have an employee there tell me that orders go through the same verification regardless of order channel. I specifically asked about ordering in-store.

For Dell you just need to be ready for a verification call immediately after the order is placed (generally). You may get an email as well. As long as you confirm that you placed the order you’re all set.

Also an FYI for those who don't know, when a BBY Laptop goes on sale for TDB, PM, etc. They usually sell the same laptop on BBY eBay store, at that price. I was able to order 2 of each laptop today (3 different models) and ship to the buyers group address with no issues.
