BFMR has been excellent. However, occasionally Walmart uses Lasership to ship my items to BFMR in New Hampshire, and Lasership is the worst.

Lasership tracking info usually contains misinformation. Packages containing ipads or laptops were ' Left in lobby', or 'Left at front door', 'Left at Person'. Sometimes it would randomly say 'package secured in our facility awaiting further information'.
And sometimes the delivery guy would forge my signature.

One of my apple watch showed as delivered by Lasership but never got checked in by BFMR, after four days I pinged BFMR, they investigated for four days and still couldn't find it. So I ended up asking Walmart for a refund, and luckily Walmart was kind enough to give me the refund.

The lesson learnt is, don't buy too much, there's always an inherent risk that the retailer would refuse refunds and a $500 loss could take $50000 of MS to get back.

Lasership has been the bane of my existence with BFMR...out of four packages: one lost (hilarious tracking page just says "package lost" as a line), two that I had to chat and call multiple times to "confirm the address" as they refuse to understand that there is a suite #, and then one that sat in a delivery facility for a week not moving and Walmart reshipped for me. Thankfully 90% goes via FedEx.

So I recently did some US Mint deals with PointsMaker. I haven't actually sent them anything yet (waiting for coins to ship), when it dawned on me that I can't find anything about this company or who runs it.
It seems they have been around a couple of years, and people have mostly good experiences, but do we know who these people are? Are they are incorporated in a state? What are recourses if things go south?

As with most everything in this 'game'....YMMV. I've been buying for them for a few months and have also bought US Mint coins all with no issues. Always a risk when doing anything for miles and points. Do what you can afford to do and ramp up if you feel like you can.

These are certainly legitimate questions. You are in essence giving a stranger your money/merchandise with the expectations of being reimbursed for it. There are instances where these groups have gone south.

The difference I see in buying groups versus the gift card game is that even if every modality of liquidation disappears tomorrow, the person holding a GC still has an asset that can be converted into goods or services, if not cash or MOs. That is a far cry from sending a $1000 camera to Midnight Buying Group and waiting for payment from them.

You are certainly correct that one should not go beyond what one can comfortably afford to lose ;)

My 2 cents after doing this for almost a year. I don't live in the US and only have an account with one of those ebanks enabling me to receive ACH payments, so no cheques. I only did BFMR and PointsMaker after they introduced ACH. Both have been great and I have done many many deals, only one incident with BFMR where they didn't accept a delivery and BB refunded me the amount.

I am able to place orders with only BB and Amazon, all other retailers cancel my orders immediately because of my non-US international credit card. I did 80K in 1 year with a few months gap due to some restrictions on wire transfer to my country from my ebank.

I really wish I could get WM and Dell to process my orders but I guess not possible without a US credit card.

I use multiple accounts, multiple credit cards (5-6 in rotation), and multiple IPs (hotspot, guest wifi if I’m out and about). Even then, about 10% of my orders cancel, but at least it’s instant so I can try again immediately. Walmart is my current favorite.

I never had any issue with bestbuy and I am not doing anything special. It could be because I am using an international credit card with BestBuy's billing address which enforces some kind of bypass on their fraud monitoring system.

wangxinqing Aug 15, 2021 9:31 pm

What do you mean by BestBuy's billing address?

I signed up and shipped my first US Mint deal w/ them. Other than a Google Form and a prepaid UPS label, there's no record of me signing up for the US Mint transaction on their portal. I sent an email to ask for clarification but there has been no response. Is that normal?

TIA

I use the billing address connected to my cc. Once you user it on BB it comes up as default. My BB orders have been going through for MYS and TDB. I modify the shipping address per TDB instructions.

I had an order arrive at thedealbuyer early last week. It hasn't been checked in yet. Ticket hasn't been answered either. Should I be getting concerned?
