Signing up to buy $1000 visa/mc gift cards
You can buy the $1000 cards on Simon's volume site. Their regular site only sells $500 cards.
If you're new, or haven't bought anything in a year, you need to register at https://www.simon.com/volume/register-consumer
As part of the registration process, you will have to go to a brick and mortar mall and buy at least $3000 in cards in person, as well as filling out some paperwork while there. After that, you can do everything online.

As of Nov 2020, Simon Mall Gift cards will only work for $99/swipe for money services at Walmart and many grocery chains.

$1000 gift cards are available indefinitely.

yeah i thought the issue was 100% random and bad cards would eventually work, so now i'm not sure anymore since this card didn't work after 5 swipes. I really hope this is a glitch and not the start of WM hardcoding against VGCs. Just find it strange: that 1 bad card was from a batch of 14 cards bought in person, and the rest of the 13 cards worked on the 1st swipe.

It was random before for the $1k cards, they would usually work after a second or third swipe if they were declined on the first swipe. Yesterday however, it seems they stopped working altogether. I did have some Wally VGC's with me as a backup and they worked fine, approved first swipe on every one so it may just be Metabanks not working. I will try the Metabanks again today.

Also, I should note that I bought the $500's yesterday. A friend of mine was in line right after me with some $1k Simon's that I assume he purchases prior to yesterday, and they worked. So maybe, hopefully...it's just a bad batch of cards and the glitch will get fixed in the next batch.

Not sure "Not authorized" is still random today. Tried 2 cards at least 4 times each card and never worked. Is the problem only happens on Simon card? Seems card from Safeway always worked (didn't try today)

Numerous reports of Simon cards not working at all today. Definitely a change from the random problems we've had for the past few weeks. Let's hope this is a temporary problem.

can confirm. My variable vgc from Safeway failed at 3x friendly WMTs this morning. Tried change payment to debit just in case, but still got 01 and 05 error messages. I was tempted to try the EFT option but I didn’t want to keep swiping and risk burning my friendly store.

I’m not sure how long this will continue, but I remain lucky in so far as I liquidated 1ks at a friendly Walmart this morning. CSR reporter that someone else was in earlier and did 3k successfully as well.

4 SM VGC's unable to be liquidated via MO or BB reload across two different WM's in Pennsylvania today. Not authorized, multiple swipes on each to no avail.

Someone I know who does a lot of billpays said most of the WM's in our area of DFW received a software update for financial services in the past few days, we are guessing that is causing the current issues. So it is definitely possible some WM's have not received the update. Just a theory though.

Tried SM VGC this morning with no luck in MInnesota. I was up to 6 swipes between 2 cards. Vanilla lowered the limit to under $50 so Metabank may have done the same thing.

New DP on the Simon issue. At a WM I visit only occasionally, today I liquidated 4 cards in 5 swipes (i.e. one failure). At my primary store, was about 0 for 8, even when waiting as much as a minute to enter the PIN. First time I have been unable to use a card even when waiting.
