I've done it. Once. There is enough places around me and on my regularly traveled routes that I don't need to push it. I can run in and out in less than 3 minutes and load $500. It nearly takes that long to park at WM.

Yes, it doesn't appear to be any different than WM, TGT, etc.

I'm also in the Los Angeles area. Aren't there enough RA where you like that you can just do $500 at each? I am just hoping this new method doesn't get abused and shut down.

I'll admit I used to do $1k loads at FD, but learned my lesson when they started to get denied for potential fraud. And now many FD are cash only for Serve load. I also used to buy $1k in gc from RA, and then some of them started to go cash only for gc. Luckily there are numerous RA in my area, and I'm keeping my Serve loads to just $500 per visit to hopefully keep this them from going to cash only as well.

My RA in Northern Virginia has historically been a reliable source for MOs -- no hassle about GCs, etc. Tried to buy one this weekend & cashier I've dealt with for years said that management changed to a cash-only policy.

RA went cash only for MO's a good while ago. There is a specific corporate memo on it. Consider yourself lucky if you've been able to buy them recently.

Data point: twice in the last week I've loaded multiple VGCs to Serve at RA, once 2x$500 and the next time 4x$500. I found it helps to just be honest - tell the cashier that you want to load $x, but that you think Serve has a $500/load limit, so you'll need to do a few consecutive loads. This at least worked for me the two times I've tried so far. (The first cashier knew about the $500 limit and was happy to do multiple loads, and the second one was clearly less sure about how all this worked, but confidence and friendliness walked them through it.) Then you don't need to even mention that you're using multiple debit cards. I probably will stick to 2x$500 from now on, though, just so as not to raise suspicions.
