Had no issue using Kate and register for last $500 for total load of $2475. While this is a blessing for some, others will blow it for their store when they load $10K across 4 BB in two days...use some common sense people.

I believe you mean $20k across 4 BB in two days.....and I know there are some crazies out there that have more than 4 BBs...

thanks for correcting me. $20K in 2 days accross 4 BB :)
Yeah, good point about VGC being out of equation, but plenty of regional stores still sell plenty of cards you can use, so will be interesting to see how long they last. |

Well that's promising. Anybody tried it out yet?
I wonder why they felt the need to limit it to $1999.99 instead of a round $2k. That's a great way to confuse cashiers, for sure. "I need to do 3 loads of $500, and one load of $499.99." |

Yes, plenty of places (at least for some!) to buy cards, but I haven't found a supermarket where it seems fine to buy $5K worth of cards. They ask for ID for a $500 card, and want manager approval in many cases.

Agreed. I was willing to do much more volume at CVS than I am at grocery stores. But, I'm nervous about having a hard time liquidating OVs.

Can I ask why you say that? Why are you more willing to spend more at CvS as opposed to grocery stores?

I don't think DapperDon meant philosophically or anything! Just that CVS is/was MS friendly, and most stores allow you buy $5K every 24 hours.

Yup. Sometimes I get a CVS cashier say,"wow 5k, i've never seen anybody buy that many". Then he happily process my gc all in 1 transaction.

case in point: I was at the grocery store last night buying $1K in VGCs and the cashier LOUDLY exclaimed, "oh wow, never seen a bill that high. $1000 in gift cards, damn!" Obviously, this drew some attention from other customers... CVS doesn't seem to care what I do with VGC purchases.

My preferred grocery store has a corporate set $5K a day limit just like CVS so it's not like I'm skirting any rules. I make all my purchases at the customer service desk since check out lanes can't do over $1500 so everyone in CS knows me.

That's awesome, wish I could swing that in my area. Tired of all these one-at-a-time VGC purchases at my supermarket. |
