At some locations, certainly not all. We've been buying many $200 Visa GCs per day @OD using Chase Inks, including yesterday. with no problems at all. It's the variable (the ones that run up to $500) cards that are broadly banned for CC purchases.

I bought one yesterday. They seemed suspicious, so I didn't push my luck. I only use them when I need to make a purchase close to that amount that doesn't get me big rewards.

bought 4 ($200 gc) + amazon kindle yesterday with no issue...I tried to slip in Paypal card in the transaction but got decline. So, i told the manager to remove it.
The only reason i pick up the paypal because it was in the middle area of the gift card (not the side which said cash only)
bought another 8 ($200 GC) this AM, no issue as well.

I received an email from a colleague who participates in our 'program' - he wrote something about Chase developing some sort of POS code to identify gift card purchases from office supply stores so they can be blocked from earning points and treated as cash equivalents. I've asked for more information, especially as I doubt this would be possible as every office supply store would need to align their POS to identify and report a SKU batch to Chase, and probably only Chase unless there is some other way of handling this that I'm not aware of.
Anyone else heard of this?
