I bought 6 beans last week (same time, multiple cc's). Only ocular id scan like always.
|
News;
Sames store that previously triggered for ID scan on 2nd card now triggers on 3rd card. They may be testing different thresholds. This limit seems to apply to all reloadables (Visa, Paypal and Whitneys*). * new code for ice-cream see MM posts for this. |
My local store in ATL is still hard coded to only accept 1k per trxn.
Tried to do 2k tonight. Will try another location tomorrow. Maybe a slow rollout... |
Does anyone know what was the first month and year the vanilla reload cards were on sale?
Hope the question goes here as I didn't want to start a thread for a simple answer. TIA |

The CVS I went to today still insists on cash-only, citing corporate policy, how long does it take for those cashier to get the memo?! :(

They started stocking beans at my local Charlie and it looks like yes, ID is required after $500. I've only bought max 1k per day anyways but that would suck if they are starting to keep track of these. Today I almost felt guilty, new cashier, real friendly, I get to the register and she tells me she believes you can only pay cash. I tell her I've bought plenty of cards/beans before with credit. She's nice enough and says, well let's try. It's funny how I've become so familiar with the register prompts that I walked her through them. Anyway, it's great to live in a small town, no big airports nearby, and no FT'ers to hoard the beans:cool: all for me^

I saw the memo tonight in STL. the new 5k limit is in play here. bought 3x500. scanned id (cashier: "that's new, i've never had to do this before"). I walked her through the transaction like a true FTer.

Tell us where you are and we'll do a mileage run. Ha ha! ^ |
I asked two stores this morning about purchasing more than $1K. Both insisted that $1K was still the limit.
The only thing that appears to have changed lately around here is that my Citi cards almost always come up with the message "alternate tender required" on the first swipe now. But a second, immediate swipe ALWAYS goes through. Talking to the cashiers, they see that frequently...so I'm convinced it has something to do with the POS terminals and not my cards. |
What's annoying about this new policy is how easily the cashiers adapt to scanning the DL for the 2nd bean, but not to allowing more than 1k per day! It's part of the same policy change! The 5k limit went into effect at the same time they started scanning the DL.
