What's annoying about this new policy is how easily the cashiers adapt to scanning the DL for the 2nd bean, but not to allowing more than 1k per day! It's part of the same policy change! The 5k limit went into effect at the same time they started scanning the DL.

You really don't understand why this is happening? DL scan is forced on them, the register won't process the transaction without it being scanned.

The only thing that appears to have changed lately around here is that my Citi cards almost always come up with the message "alternate tender required" on the first swipe now. But a second, immediate swipe ALWAYS goes through. Talking to the cashiers, they see that frequently...so I'm convinced it has something to do with the POS terminals and not my cards.

It would be great if we could get an idea of where IDs scan are required

For instance, I know downtown Boston all scan IDs and are all constantly churning beans to a lot of people.

I haven't tried the charlies in Back Bay in a while, but I suspect the same

Oddly enough, with this policy, I see more beans stocked than ever.

I tend to think ID scans are being required in areas with 'unusually high volume" and the scan can be to try to track some shady money laundering scheme or something like that (pulled that out of you know where with no actual facts at all)

Cashier didn't know how to split payments on different CC so I ended up buying 5 on 5 cards (thus no id scan) and the manager saw it and told the cashier next time do one single transaction so that everything " goes through the system", whatever it means.

Whitneys can only be loaded to permanent BB - details in the BB thread.
What is Whitneys?

I checked the BB thread but could not find anything.

Edit: Whitneys = VR

I got to know it by searching this thread, not BB thread.
I think it is not a good idea that we use very little-known nickname in the wiki.

Beans -> last name -> http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...illajo01.shtml -> plays for city -> last name of singer -> her first name

Yes this is PURE evidence that people should read these threads... the humor of flyertalk and the WHITNEY name was developed only a few days ago by a few of us going back and forth in here and if anyone says we shouldnt do it, they take this stuff way too seriously.

The Houston Astros have a player named Johnathan Villar. He's an infielder rookie. Villar in any latin pronunciation would be VEEYAR because the ll is a y sound. So he is VR or the cards we always talk about in THIS thread!

It was suggested we call em Houstons but then someone else said Whitney's ie, the pop singer. Even Whitey and then Buldger was tossed around but we stuck with Whitney and so that's why they could be nic named that.

I cant see why we shouldnt actually leave it like that --seeing as how evidence exists in other top threads in FT that things too clearly spelled out eventually die!

Then again Im just one poster here. Whatever.

I know Australians are fond of this kind of slang... sometimes they do what is called rhyming slang, where "Noah's Arc" is often said by many Aussies to mean SHARK, and other times its a type of slang derived from other words like what has been done to get from VR to Whitney.

Well the memo finally arrived at my local CVS. The old lady (who I swear looks like one of those old Weeble-Wobble characters - no neck her heads just basically blends triangularly downward to the big waist) was all confused when she scanned the second card and it wouldn't let her proceed. But then she said the memo had been printed and was there. I saw her read it... "Max 1000.... no wait max 500... no wait max 10 cards per day". Clearly reading is not her strong point either lol. Anyway all very polite. Next time I'm just going to hand her 10 cards, say I read it should be ok and give it a try and I am sure she will. Lordy, lord abusing that Citi Fwd card just got a whole lot easier

hahahaha I have that same lady in my best CVS. She rarely if ever looked at IDs and said... I come from the old school. She also seemed to know every customer in the store and now treats me like family. I have not been back to that cvs since this new rule began to roll out so Im curious on how it will go but that's a riot lol

now I wish I had like 8 bbs!

Yeah those Aussies just like to keep copying us Brits, I guess they are our criminal ancestors lol Rhyming slang is epicenter-ed in London's east end (where my kids were born - well within earshot of the Bow Bells making them "official" cockneys)

Yup, they came from England and Ireland and most were criminals so it's kinda funny how a whole nation evolved from that (a bit like us in a way, as mileage schemers lol)

"So I took a trip on a government ship 10,000 miles away..."

Anyway the thing is, if we learn to speak a bit more in trick it negotiate it, ADK, MM, Whitney Aussie slang, maybe these deals would be more humorous and long lasting! People would actually have to READ the threads and get to know other like minded posters in here with PMs and continued worthy and intelligent discussion, debate and thinking that involves being creative and thinking outside the outside of boxes--and non boxes! GASP!!! Could it be?

i hear you dude but there ain't no point closing this particular stable door. tpg just posted about the $5k limit increase today. his reach is huge. anyone posting in rhyming slang or code on this thread is seriously dillusional, ignorant, stupid or some combo of all three. unless it's just for fun, in which case that's fine :D

I agree with you on all points here... but perhaps the lesson could be for future use/future deals and in future threads.

I am actually seriously dillusional, ignorant, stupid or some combo of all three but I am also, as many hopefully know, here for the fun too. :D:D

And whatever I am or we are, this miles stuff is working right now so let's continue it as long as we can til it dont no more.

I understand all too well. They will follow up that one part of the new policy, scanning my DL. Even when I have to coach them through it. Obviously the cashier doesn't know anything about this new policy, but will blindly follow it. When it comes to the part of the new policy I want imposed, they refuse. Of course, just playing it safe. Why would I listen to this guy who wants 5k when I know it's 1k? Well you just listened to me when I told you to scan my drivers license!

It's just a slight annoyance that I am sure will be overcome in a week, and everyone will have 5k goodness. :D

I had a funny encounter similar to this. The $5k limit is on a rolling 24 hr basis which I found out the 'hard' way. The register spit out a small receipt saying limit is $5k / day and I can buy more tomorrow. The confused teller read the slip and then insisted the limit must by $500 now as she didn't expect to read $5k and just saw $500.

This limit isn't just for Whitneys but all the variable loads (and might even be for gift cards too, but I'm not going to test that!)

If you've already been buying them, then you know about the rule. I don't know that it will change things that much.
